Job Purpose:

The Conference and Events Casual Team Member will be required to assist with, and support, all aspects of the Conference and Events Operational Delivery at Brent Civic Centre and within The Drum at Wembley as required. Responsibility could be within any one or any combination of the following areas:

1. Venue stewarding 2. Cloakroom attendant 3. Bar steward 4. Portering 5. Cleaning

The role is ‘as and when required’ and the candidate must also be prepared to work evenings and weekends and unsociable hours when required.

This role could involve manual handling/lifting and moving as well as the use of a genie lift (for trained individuals) and ladders.

The role requires a high level of customer service and face-to-face customer interaction.

Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

1. Venue stewarding Assisting Conference and Event Managers and Supervisors with guest and venue health and safety. Greeting and directing guests. Ensuring signage is correct. Providing assistance when required to disabled guests. Assisting with fire evacuation procedure. Furniture set-ups.

2. Cloakroom attendant Man the cloakroom at all times. Take responsibility for guest belongings, labelling and issuing correct tickets to the client. Ensure all belongings are returned safely to guests at the end of an event. Neat and clean presentation of cloakroom facilities. Responding to client enquiries (directions etc.).

3. Bar steward Man the bar at all times. Provide a quick and efficient bar service to guests. Process cash and card payments. Restocking of the bar. Collecting glassware from around the venue. Neat and clean presentation of Bar facilities at all times. Adhering to current supply and sale of alcohol licencing regulations.

4. Portering Assisting with set-ups including furniture, staging, audio-visual equipment, decoration and dressing, signage etc. Venue health and safety checks. Spot cleaning.

5. Cleaning Proactively ensure the venues are clean and tidy before, during and after any event. Ensure any accidental spills are dealt with quickly and efficiently ensuring compliance with health and safety procedures and using appropriate solutions and equipment. Be on call throughout the event and spot clean throughout. Check, clean and re-stock toilets regularly.
