SOUTHEAST REGIONAL CHAPTER SOCIETY OF TOXICOLOGY 2003 ANNUAL FALL SYMPOSIUM

The Southeast Regional Chapter of the Society of Toxicology would like to invite you to attend its annual fall symposium on Monday, October 27th in Chattanooga, TN. The symposium theme for the meeting this year will be “Endocrine Disruption”.

Preliminary Schedule: Time Activity 8:00 - 10:00 Registration and poster set up 10:00 - 10:05 Welcome and Introductions 10:05 - 11:15 Three Student Platform Presentations (Various topics) 11:15 - 11:45 Dr. Tim Gross (U. of Florida): Endocrine disruption and wildlife 11:45 - 2:15 Buffet Lunch and Poster Session (viewing and judging) 2:15 - 2:45 Dr. Antonia Calafat (CDC): Human exposures and body burdens of endocrine disruptors. 2:45 - 3:15 Dr. Chris Borgert (U. of Florida): Overview of the EDSTAC screening studies. 3:15 - 3:45 Dr. Tim Zacharewski (Mich. State Univ.): Incorporation of Toxicogenomics into Mechanistic and Predictive Toxicology: Effects of Estrogenic Endocrine Disruptors on Uterine Gene Expression. 3:45 - 4:00 Break 4:00 - 4:30 Dr. Li You (CIIT): Impact of phytoestrogens on susceptibility to synthetic endocrine-active compounds. 4:30 - 5:00 Dr. Coral Lamartiniere (U. of Alabama-Birmingham): Phytoestrogens and mammary cancer risks. 5:00 Student Awards SESOT Business Meeting after Conclusion

This meeting represents a great opportunity for graduate students to get experience presenting data in preparation for the National SOT meeting. Three student speakers will be selected from submitted abstracts (research does not need to be related to endocrine disruption) to compete for a $100 award and there will be cash awards available for student posters (1st:$100, 2nd: $75, 3rd: $50). The deadline for submitting abstracts is October 10 th.
