If one uses Daniel’s “70 Weeks” as a Dual Fulfillment prophecy in the traditional form (i.e. 70x7 years), we end up connecting important historical dates and Bible a second time.

In Daniel 9:25, the angel Gabriel speaks about a “69” week period (i.e. from the “issue of decree till rebuild & restoration of Jerusalem until coming/cut off of the ruler”). Now, the same prophecy also speaks of splitting “69” weeks into “7” weeks “rebuild & restoration” period & remaining “62” weeks for the ‘coming/cut off of the ruler” period. “Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times” (Dan. 9:25).

If we use the ‘Alhambra Decree” given by the Spanish King to expel Jews which came to full effect on 12th Jan. 1493 (i.e. last day of expulsion from Sicily/Spain) as the beginning of this time, then by 7 week period (or 7 Daniel weeks – i.e. 7x7 “prophetic” Lunar++ years) rebuilding & restoration of Jerusalem should finish – which actually is 49 “prophetic” years or 48.29 solar years (49 x 360/365.4) & we see Ottoman Sultan: “Suleman the Magnificent” finishing the rebuilding/restoration work of Jerusalem and its walls exactly in the year 1541 (i.e. 1541.32) which is “49” years after the decree.

During that rebuilding process, they also closed the Golden Gate, or Eastern Gate, fulfilling Ezekiel 44:1-2. “Then he brought me back the way of the gate of the outward sanctuary which looketh toward the east; and it was shut. Then said the Lord unto me, This gate shall be shut; it shall not be opened, and no man shall enter in by it; because the Lord, the God of Israel, hath entered in by it, therefore it shall be shut” (Ezek. 44:1-2).

Now, when we add the remaining “62” weeks (i.e. 62 x 7 years) which is 434 prophetic years or 427.77 solar years (434 x 360/365.4), we get the year AD 1969 (i.e. 1541.32 + 427.77) when the Anointed One, or ruler, was supposed to cut off. If we look at history, we can see that Israel captured East Jerusalem (including the Temple Mount) in the “Six Day war, 1967;”but only on 16th April 1968 Israel passed a law and expropriated Jewish quarters when actually Jerusalem was fully annexed or liberated. To commemorate this event, they instituted “Jerusalem Day” on 12th May 1968 as a public holiday. Since it all happened under the leadership of Prime Minister Levi Eshkol, he became the first prime minister of Israel with an undivided Jerusalem as its capital in the year 1968/69 thereby making him the “ruler” mentioned in the prophecy. But, since he “died, or was cut off”

1 on 26th Feb. 1969 while still being the country’s prime minister, he fulfilled other requirements of that prophecy exactly in the year and month required by the prophecy. Yet, he largely remained a forgotten hero in Israel’s history just as Jesus Christ (the first Anointed One) as evidenced from Yitzhak Rabin”s memoir where he laments ehe damage done to Eshkol’s reputation “was a great injustice that history may yet address.” The remaining last week of Daniel’s prophecy (i.e. 70th week) to be fulfilled somewhere in the last generation timeframe shows the need for a prophetic gap. Yet it begs for the answer to one important question:- the purpose, or the need for, one more Daniel’s unfinished cycle?

Interestingly, the importance of the Alhambra Decree which came into effect in the year 1493 and the Jewish control of Jerusalem in the year 1968 does not end here as both these events were shortly followed by a rare heavenly event (i.e. a total lunar eclipse, or Blood Moon Tetrad) falling on the Jewish feast days (i.e. Passover & Tabernacles) in the same respective years. So, it supports the importance of prophecies, which although fulfilled once in Christ, but seems to be repeating again. Now, there were “8” Blood Moon Tetrads that occurred from the time of Christ’s crucifixion till now & in that, only “3” have significance from a Jewish perspective as evidenced from the above calculations. That means that others might have significance from a Christian perspective, or in general from the world’s point-of-view. Also, the above fulfillment proves that Robert Anderson’s calculation method – Daniel’s seventy weeks cited in his book “The Coming Prince” – to be true. Besides, in the year 1968 the Alhambra Decree was revoked by Spain on the Vatican’s directive thereby indirectly providing hints for the completion of Daniel’s 69 weeks. Coincidently, in the same year (1968) the Bible was read in space for the first time by Apollo astronauts & the next year (1969 when the Israeli prime minister died) man landed on the moon. So, this marks the second time fulfillment of this prophecy!! So, it is clearly a sign (refer Gen. 41:32) for the Jews – as well as the world – for the need to wake up from their slumber.
