 April 13 Full Day Conference:  Round of applause to everyone for such a successful conference! i. The fact that this was entirely Strategic Hours certified was a big plus  Review of Evaluation– No significant feedback in general i. Reviewed the topic suggestions from the feedback forms. These items came up more than once!  Social Media: We’ve done some of this but it was suggested that we keep this on our radar because it changes constantly a. Perhaps Social Media 102 and 202 in the future  On-Boarding (we have a June 22 workshop planned)  Legal/Legislative  Leadership  Strategic  HRCI Update – Debi Lusk  We have just completed the renewal application for our 3-year approval from HRCI for our programs. Debi will outline significant changes and things we need to be aware of in the future as we will be “on probation” for the next year – that’s their new policy.  November 9 Full Day Conference  Kim reported that Paul Salasky, 2011 SHRP president, and she had met with a representative from Gallup about the possibility of them bringing in a keynote for November. They suggested that it might be possible for them to present the entire day centered around their relatively new “Well Being” five-pronged approach as follows: i. Career ii. Social iii. Financial iv. Physical v. Community  We also agreed that well-being could be a strong theme from which to build additional keynotes and breakout sessions.  One Committee member added that ending the Conference with Gallup, in addition to a morning keynote, might be another way to tie together the Full Day Conference topics back to the overall theme of well-being.  However, there was a general consensus of the Committee that we should limit Gallup to a keynote presentation only, rather than give Gallup a longer segment, or the entire day, of our November Full Day Conference.  Education Committee members voiced the following concerns regarding an extended Gallup program:  We have built a successful Conference model by offering varied HR topics and viewpoints at past Conferences and we do not want to diminish our past success by changing the model. Too much content from one service provider (e.g. Gallup) may limit our Conference participant base, and our revenues.  We do not want to mislead our membership into incorrectly thinking that SHRP endorses or prefers Gallup's research over other service providers' research, including similar research from among our SHRP members and sponsors, and we do not want to alienate any of our members or sponsors in the employee research business.  We do not want our membership to get the wrong impression that they are attending our Conference, and paying for, an extended Gallup sales presentation.  One Committee member who has worked with Gallup in her company added that while the Gallup product line is strong, it is quite expensive and typically purchased by larger companies, which does not constitute our current membership. So we need to be careful to limit the Gallup presentation, and augment it with other presentations, to satisfy all echelons of our participants' workplaces.  Perhaps the model could be: i. Gallup opening keynote could summarize the concept and then the rest of day could be based on their five touch points but presented by other companies ii. Ending session could be Gallup again or perhaps some of the Crain’s 2011 Best Places to work representatives in a panel discussion (see notes below)  Education Outlook for remainder of year  Draft of remainder of 2011: i. May 11: Rethinking the RFP (O’Brien)  Reviewed the May program and purpose of it. Is turning out to be a roundtable discussion in O’Brien’s eyes – agreed that while not planned this way, it might be the first of our roundtable presentations. a. Currently 11 attendees – will report to committee after May 11. ii. June 8: HR Development (Greg) – normal monthly meeting – 65 people  Greg finalized Matt West, Vice President, Insidedge as the speaker, presenting “Communicating the Employee Value Proposition” a. Program up and running on the web site as of last Friday iii. June 22: OnBoarding  Being finalized. Board member, Lawrence Hedblom is presenting. Most likely 2.5 hours in the morning. Details being worked out. a. Christine reported that while Lawrence has presented this before it is normally from the job seeker he is aiming this at how the HR Dept can create an atmosphere and template for success for their new employees at all levels i. This should have general appeal for every size company ii. Who do we market to? iii. Best Practices b. We could potentially have more than 20 people – at board level we decided no more than 30 or so for a workshop and will try to secure space for 30/35 iv. Oct 5: Engagement - Motivation Show (Greg)  Details of this are pretty much in order and wrapped up. The speaker Michelle Smith is the VP of Business Development for OC Tanner and is well known in the incentive industry. She also has a connection with the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University and is working with several national congressmen on a wellness program. She is an expert on recognition, engagement and incentives. a. It was agreed that we need to get this information on our web site and the benefits of attending this session and the added benefits of being offered free entrance into the Motivation show must be clearly defined. i. Communicating early and often ii. Motivation Show is going to write up a press release on this  Workshops Discussion  Christine reported that her committee, in addition to working with Lawrence on the June 22 OnBoarding Workshop, have been working  Crain’s 2011 Top 20 Chicago Companies List i. Courtney and Amy have been working on contacting these companies with the possibility of putting together a program/s featuring some/all of these companies.  Courtney attended a reception that Crain’s had for these companies when they were announced and has at least 8 companies interested as follows, including the CEO of one of the following organizations: a. Centro (#1 on list) b. Assurance Agency (#2 on list) c. Donlen Corporation (#6) d. Tasty Catering (#8) e. Lake Forest Graduate School of Management (#9) f. Radio Flyer (#13) g. Digitas (#14) h. CareerBuilder (#17) ii. Options are (See report submitted)  Two breakfast, Panel Events: Best Places to Work Series  Full Day Conference Sessions, Panel and/or Speaker Event
