Prehistoric Society Special Access Visit to Stonehenge

Prehistoric Society Special Access Visit to Stonehenge, guided by Dr Heather Sebire, Property Curator, English Heritage Trust

Monday 3rd August 2015, 5.45pm

In 2010 English Heritage finally gained approval for a new Visitor Centre at Stonehenge. The objectives were to Improve the landscape setting by reducing noise and visual intrusion from inappropriate structures and roads, to significantly enhance the visitor experience through the provision of improved, environmentally sustainable, visitor facilities and to enhance the education/ learning experience through interpretation of the World Heritage Site and improve access to selected monuments. The project was planned in two phases the first of which, the Visitor Centre, opened in December 2013. The landscape works are almost complete and will allow a new visitor route around the stones when the new grass has had time to establish. Come and see the new facilities for yourself and enjoy the amazing experience of being inside the Stone circle!
