International Scientific Conference PEACE TREATY OF BUCHAREST, MACEDONIA AND THE BALKANS Marking the centennial of the signing of the Bucharest Peace Treaty Skopje, 31 October and 1 November 2013

The Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts (MANU) is organizing an International Scientific Conference entitled: Peace Treaty of Bucharest, Macedonia and the Balkans, which will be held in Skopje on 31 October and 1 November 2013.

Evaluating the scientific contribution and interest in this matter, the Organizing Committee expects the scientists and researchers to select one of listed or similar topics and to send the application no later than 1 September 2013 on email: [email protected] along with their biography (CV) and a summary (abstract) of to 250 words. The Committee intends, in due time, to publish the summaries of the papers.

The conditions for participation, application form and other information can be obtained from the website of the Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts: www.manu.edu.mk.

Following the International Scientific Conference, the papers presented and the discussion will be published in separate proceedings.

POSSIBLE TOPICS OF THE SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE:

1. Bucharest Peace Treaty - the beginning of the end of the European empires 2. The reforms of the Ottoman Empire, the Balkan wars and the Bucharest Peace Treaty 3. Balkan countries and Macedonia before the Balkan Wars and the Bucharest Peace Treaty 4. Balkan Alliance and Bucharest Peace Treaty 5. Macedonia (as an object) of the Bucharest Peace Conference 6. International politics and the national and political processes in the Balkans before and after the Bucharest Peace Treaty 7. Ideas and projects for uniting the Balkan states 8. SUMMARY SUBMISSION

The scientists wishing to participate in the Conference should send a summary of up to 250 words, which should explain the purpose, method, and used sources on e-mail [email protected] by 1 September 2013. These proposals will be reviewed by members of the Organizing Committee and the authors of the accepted topics will be notified to be included in the final program of the Conference. The papers presented at the Conference will be published later in separate Proceedings.

FINAL PAPERS SUBMISSION

The complete version of the selected papers must be proofread and submitted as a Word document by 31 December 2013 on email [email protected].

FORM OF THE PAPER

1. The title of the paper should be written in bold, capital letters; the text should be centered and the author's name should be placed immediately below, to the right. Academic title, institution and e-mail should given as a non-bullet footnote at the end of the page. 2. Under the title and name comes the English abstract of size 10 points of up to 250 words. The English abstract should also contain the title in English. 3. The font is Times New Roman, 12 points. Tables, footnotes and references are also 10 points. 4. The paper has to be written in Microsoft Word, corresponding to A4 paper size. The margins are 2.5 cm, header and footer – 1.25 cm. 5. Original documents, images (photos, images, etc.), maps that are not directly relevant to the paper, should not be presented in the article, they should be numbered and attached at the end of it. High-resolution images to be recorded on a CD and to be submitted separately. 6. The paper should be between 8 and 16 pages.
