III INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON TECHNOLOGICAL TRANSFERS

Havana Convention Palace, Cuba, November 3rd to 7th, 2008

The Center of Management of Priority Programs and Projects (GEPROP), belonging to the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment of the Republic of Cuba (CITMA), has the pleasure of inviting you to take part in the III International Symposium on Technological Transfers TECNOTRANSFER 2008, which will be held in November 2008, from Monday 3rd through Friday 7th, at Havana Convention Palace, in parallel with the International Science Workshop “Knowledge Management”. Both events mentioned above will occur at the framework of the II Convention on Science, Technology and Sustainable Development.

The III International Symposium on Technological Transfers is addressed to all those who are involved in technology transfer processes at national, regional and international levels. The aim of the symposium is to encourage the exchange of professional experiences between the participants. SOUTH-SOUTH technology transfers will be given a special interest in the event. The subjects to be discussed are:  Capacity building for an efficient and effective transfer of technology  Expanding services and transfer of technology in America and the world.  Evaluation systems and methods.  Quality management, standardization and metrology in technological transfer processes.  Organizational, juridical and methodological basis of Intellectual Property for technological transfers.  Knowledge management and Information Technology at the service of technological transfers.  Training activities of human resources.

 Role of different actors involved in the development, promotion and implementation of technology transfer processes

Technology brokers and agents.  The role of Governments and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) for technology transfer development.  Specialized institutions: financier entities, chambers of commerce, investment and export promotion agencies.

 The impacts of technological transfers on countries´ development  Scientific results and Know-how marketing as technological transfers’ ways. Examples of successful experiences in their implementation. Case studies.  Import and export procedures of technologies associated to investments.  National, regional and international regulations and standardization.

Special attention will be paid to these areas:  Biotechnology.  Renewable energy.  Sustainable agriculture and stockbreeding.  Environment.  New materials and cutting edge technologies.  Information technology and communication.  Others.

Abstract and Paper Submissions:  Abstracts should be sent before August 29, 2008 to the Organizing Committee. The electronic mail submission is encouraged. Abstracts should be MSWord 6.0 files or higher and written in Spanish or English. They should not exceed 250 words. Abstract format: . Title (Centered, 14-point Arial boldface) . Author´s full name (boldface and italics type)/ Name of the speaker underlined. . Institution, postal address, telephone, fax, electronic mail. . City and Country (boldface) . MainText ( Justified, 12-point Arial, 2,5 cm Margins) Paper Size: Letter (8.5” x 11” or 21.59 cm. x 27.94 cm)  Authors will receive an e-mail acknowledgement regarding receipt of their abstracts and will be notified if their works were accepted before September 15, 2008 by the Scientific Committee.  Full papers should be sent before September 30, 2008 to the Organizing Committee. Papers should not exceed 20 pages, including graphics, figures and images. Please, specify what method you will use to present your paper (oral, poster or audiovisual expositions). In case of presenting an audiovisual show, it should be no longer than 20 minutes,
