1.4 SUBMITTALS

1.4.1 Submit under provisions of Section 01 30 00.

1.4.2 Product Data: Manufacturer's data sheets on each product to be used, including: 1.4.2.1 Preparation instructions and recommendations. 1.4.2.2 Storage and handling requirements and recommendations. 1.4.2.3 Installation methods.

1.4.3 Shop Drawings: Submit plan and section drawings as necessary to depict applicable installation procedures and floor system configurations.

1.4.4 Selection Samples: For each finish product specified, two complete sets of color chips representing manufacturer's full range of available colors and styles.

1.4.5 Verification Samples: For each finish product specified, two samples, minimum size 6 inches (150 mm) square representing actual product, color, and patterns.

1.4.6 LEED Submittals: Provide documentation of how the requirements of LEED Credit will be met: 1.4.6.1 List of proposed materials with recycled content. Indicate post-consumer recycled content and pre-consumer recycled content for each product having recycled content. 1.4.6.2 Credits MR 4.1 and 4.2: Certification letter indicating percentages by weight of post- consumer and pre-consumer recycled content for products having recycled content. 1.4.6.3 Credit MR 5: Certification letter documenting that the Project location is within 500 miles (804 km) of material manufacturing location. 1.4.6.4 Credit MR 6: Certification letter documenting the renewal duration of the material specified.

1.5 QUALITY ASSURANCE

1.5.1 Manufacturer Qualifications: All primary products specified in this section will be supplied by a single manufacturer with a minimum of ten (10) years experience.

1.5.2 09 65 00-2 Installer Qualifications: All products listed in this section are to be installed by a single installer with a minimum of five (5) years demonstrated experience in installing products of the same type and scope as specified.

1.5.3 Mock-Up: Provide a mock-up for evaluation of surface preparation techniques and application workmanship. 1.5.3.1 Finish areas designated by Architect. 1.5.3.2 Do not proceed with remaining work until workmanship, color, and sheen are approved by Architect. 1.5.3.3 Refinish mock-up area as required to produce acceptable work.

1.6 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING

1.6.1 Store products in manufacturer's unopened packaging until ready for installation.

1.6.2 Store and dispose of hazardous materials, and materials contaminated by hazardous materials, in accordance with requirements of local authorities having jurisdiction.

1.7 PROJECT CONDITIONS

1.7.1 Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and ventilation) within limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside manufacturer's absolute limits.

1.8 WARRANTY

1.8.1 At project closeout, provide to Owner or Owners Representative an executed copy of the manufacturer's standard limited warranty against manufacturing defect, outlining its terms, conditions, and exclusions from coverage.

1.9 EXTRA MATERIALS

1.9.1 At project closeout, provide to the Owner ___ square feet (__sm) of flooring for color matching and repair purposes.

3 EXECUTION

3.1 EXAMINATION

3.1.1 Do not begin installation until substrates have been properly prepared.

3.1.2 If substrate preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect of unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding.

3.2 PREPARATION

3.2.1 Clean surfaces thoroughly prior to installation.

3.2.2 Prepare surfaces using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the best result for the substrate under the project conditions.

3.2.3 Unpack cork in the room in which the product will be installed 3-4 days prior to installation to allow the natural material to acclimate.

3.2.4 Maintain a temperature between 60 and 75 F. (16 - 24 C). Relative humidity should be maintained between 40 and 60 percent for 24 hours before, during and 24 hours after the installation.

3.3 INSTALLATION - CORK TILES

3.3.1 Install in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.

3.3.2 Review and shuffle tiles before beginning the installation.

3.3.3 Adhere cork tile using a latex, water-based contact adhesive formulated especially for cork tiles. Tiles are pre-glued from the factory and the matching adhesive must be evenly applied to the subfloor during installation. Adhesive to be applied to subfloor with a roller, not a trowel. Tiles must be hit with a rubber mallet after installation to ensure positive contact.

09 65 00-19 3.3.4 Tiles have 3 factory applied coats of finish. Final finish with a water-based varnish formulated especially for cork. Apply a final commercial-grade finish coat after tile installation with a roller or paint pad.

3.4 INSTALLATION - FLOATING FLOORING

3.4.1 Install in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.

3.4.2 Review and shuffle planks before beginning the installation.

3.4.3 Begin in the corner of a room. Place the plank 1/2 inch (13mm) away from both walls at the corner.

3.4.4 Make the first long row of flooring in the room with the planks locked short end to short end, not side to side.

3.4.5 Snap subsequent planks into the end of the previous until it locks flat and tight with no gap. Do not hammer directly on the clicking ridges or the cork as they will break.

3.4.6 At row ends where cuts are required, planks may be cut using a hand saw, table saw or circular saw.

3.4.7 Tiles have 3 factory applied coats of finish. Final finish with a water-based varnish formulated especially for cork. Apply a final commercial-grade finish coat after tile installation.

3.5 PROTECTION

3.5.1 Protect installed products until completion of project.

3.5.2 Touch-up, repair or replace damaged products before Substantial Completion.
