UCP NAMES 2017 HUMANITARIAN OF THE YEAR Annual event to raise funds for people with developmental disabilities

SACRAMENTO – Rick Niello of the The Niello Company was honored at The Foundation for UCP of Sacramento and Northern California 24th Annual Humanitarian of the Year Award Dinner on May 18, 2017 5:30-9 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Hotel Sacramento. The UCP Humanitarian of the Year Award is Sacramento’s premier humanitarian award given to leaders who have displayed a passion for our region and a desire to work toward enhancing the lives of others. The event is The Foundation for UCP’s largest fundraiser of the year and funds the future needs of today’s children with developmental disabilities (autism, intellectual disability, Down syndrome, epilepsy, cerebral palsy).

“Rick has proven himself a visionary and a leader, both in business and in our community,” said Doug Bergman, President and CEO, The Foundation for UCP of Sacramento and Northern California. “His passion for our region is obvious to anyone who knows him and we are honored to name him the 2017 Humanitarian of the Year.”

As President of The Niello Company, Rick has provided leadership with integrity and caring. “I am honored to have been chosen as UCP’s 2017 Humanitarian of the Year Award recipient. The previous honorees are people I respect and admire, and I am proud to be associated with such a fine group. Supporting our community is an essential Core Value of The Niello Company and we strongly believe in the mission of UCP—helping people live life without limits.“

More than 680 people attended Sacramento’s premier humanitarian event, which has raised more than $2.3 million for local children, adults, and families with developmental disabilities. This year’s event raised $323,000 through ticket sales, sponsorships, and live and silent auctions.
