Course Description: In this class, we will be examining events and issues in Ancient World History.

If you work hard each day and put forth your best effort, you are sure to succeed in this class. Please allow me to help you in any way I can. Adhering to the following policies and procedures will also ensure your success in Ancient World History.

Class Materials: For this class you will need: 1. Notebook paper (wide-ruled) 2. Tabbed dividers (3) 3. Colored pencils 4. Highlighter 5. Pen (blue or black ink only)

Grading and Tests Your nine weeks grade will consist of the following categories: Major Tests (Tests and Projects) = 65% Minor Grades (Quizzes, class work) = 35%

Grading Scale 90-100 = A 80-89 = B 70-79 = C 60-69 = D 0-59 = F

Classroom Policy and Procedures 1. When the teacher is speaking, you should not be. 2. Be prompt, prepared and polite. This means you will arrive to the classroom on time and report to your assigned seat. You will have all your materials with you upon arrival. Please handle all your personal business between classes. 3. At no time will food, drinks, candy, gum etc. be allowed in the classroom. 4. Do not do anything which might cause you, other students, or the teacher harm or disruption. Do not do anything which might cause damage to the classroom. I expect appropriate behavior in my classroom. I will not tolerate any behavior which prohibits me from teaching and/or anyone from learning; Therefore, I will utilize the following discipline plan.

CONSEQUENCES FIRST OFFENSE: WARNING SECOND OFFENSE: STUDENT-TEACHER CONFERENCE THIRD OFFENSE: PARENT PHONE CALL/EMAIL FOURTH OFFENSE: PARENT PHONE CALL/EMAIL AND AFTER SCHOOL DETENTION FIFTH OFFENSE: OFFICE REFERRAL SEVERE INFRACTION: IMMEDIATE OFFICE REFERRAL

Attendance and Make-up Work Attendance e is very important to your success in this class and at Baldwin Magnet. Please refer to your School Handbook for a detailed explanation of the attendance policy.

You may make up tests on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday afternoons. Any class work missed may be picked up the day you return. There will be a designated place in the classroom for you to pick up missed work. It is your responsibility to do this. All work must be made up in a timely manner.
