2005 MFL Hall of Fame Tournament

2013 Dighton-Rehoboth Luau Tournament

Dear Coaches,

Please join us on November 9th as we embrace our inner Hawaiians at the Dighton- Rehoboth Luau tournament! We all wish we could take a nice, relaxing vacation to the islands of Hawaii, so why not enjoy it here in Massachusetts? Hopefully there will be no snow! We are very excited to have all of you come to Dighton-Rehoboth. We look forward to many exciting and fantastic speech events.

Dunkin Donuts coffee and baked items will be available for purchase. We have our own in-house pizza chef making fresh pizza and salad. Homemade baked goods will be also sold to help raise funds for our team.

Trophies will be awarded to the top 6 speech finalists. The “Top Novice” in each non-novice event will also receive an award. PFD awards will be given to the top 6 teams. Sweepstakes awards will be given to the top 5 large and top 5 small schools; small schools will be classified as 15 entries or less. Points will be calcu- lated using the 5-4-3-2-1-1 system for preliminary scores and final placement. The top entry in 10 different events plus 2 additional entries will be counted. Double entry is allowed. There is no double entry for students en- tered in VX, NX, Radio, Group, PFD, or Student Congress.

We hope to see you all on November 9th!

Sincerely,

Student captains: Emma Kearns and Phil Proulx

CODE OF CONDUCT

All students shall abide by standard rules of professionalism at all MFL functions. Any student found in violation of the code of conduct listed in Section 2.1 of the MFL Rules by any tournament official, judge or chaperone may be disqualified from competition at the discretion of the tournament director.

We also ask that each coach remind their team that the building including classrooms must be treated with respect. Each year we risk losing host sites because of a few students poor judgment. Thank you. JUDGING

Each school must provide one judge per five total Speech & Congress entries, or fraction thereof. We may be unable to accept any entries which are not covered by your judging obligation. Judging assignments are set on THURSDAY at 5 p.m. Please do not drop extra judges after that time.

The MFL does not provide hired judges for this tournament. Each missing judge will carry a $50 fine, but this is not to be used in lieu of judging requirements.

MORNING CALL IN PERIOD

MFL rules require that every school call in the morning of the tournament to confirm their entry, whether or not they have any changes to make. Please call or TEXT in to 330 647-0924 by 8:00 AM the morning of the tournament to confirm your entry. DO NOT LEAVE A MESSAGE! Please call back in a few minutes. Schools that do not call in may be assessed a $25 fine.
