President’s Report – P. Simpson. -Trina Harrison in HR will be retiring. CUPE might feel the effects of this as she did help us address issues. There will be a new Assistant Director of HR for CUPE. - Custodians are under attack. The way schools are serviced are under attack. Management is saying they are improving this but it is the opposite. They plan to have 18 schools with no custodial until 10:30 am so no one to open the schools. This is all in the planning stage but the union will be fighting this. Some sites would lose afternoon hours. This is not acceptable, it violates our collective agreement. - Custodians have always bid on runs in a school. No custodians should take a different run without bidding on it. - Reminder to all members that Under Clause 25 – Volunteers shall not be used to displace or replace CUPE employees. e.g. Parents /students/non CUPE doing cleaning, working on lockers or doing clerical work. - Shind Chand has left the Finance Department.

Chief Shop Steward’s Report – D. Parris Grievance for a trade and had the vacation time changed to sick time. A Custodial had a leave for Bereavement denied. Once we met with HR it was resolved.
