Organization Grant Project Description Awards

2008 Sergeant Bluff-Luton Elementary School (Leslie Ellerbeck) $500 Toward the purchase of books and quizzes to upgrade and improve the quality of resources available in the Library Media Center for 3rd – 5th grade students.

Sergeant Bluff-Luton Middle School (Tami Little) $500 To purchase a digital camera and memory cards for 8th grade students to use digital photography to create a multi-media presentation about what it means to be a “Warrior”.

2009 Sergeant Bluff-Luton Middle School (Niki Dewald) $500 Toward the purchase of 24-remote system of Qwizdom for 8th grade math. Qwizdom remote technology creates a hands on learning environment. The technology will increase student engagement and participation while providing immediate feedback to students.

Sergeant Bluff-Luton Primary School (Paula Olson) $500 To purchase visual timers for 1st grade classrooms. Students in need of assistance in completing classroom assignments in allotted time will be able to use the timers to help them focus on completion of assigned tasks.

Sergeant Bluff-Luton Middle School (Chris Pottebaum) $500 To purchase reading books for the Accelerated Reading program. Program encourages students to read books of their choice at their individual reading level. Books will go along with 125,000 quizzes available at a variety of reading levels, interest levels, and genres.

Sergeant Bluff-Luton Elementary School (Sara Smith) $493 To purchase one English Take-Home Learning kit which includes 16 backpacks filled with a book and activities. The book and activities will be completed with their parents at home. Take-Home backpacks feature fun-filled hands-on activities that reinforce basic skills from counting to nutrition. Backpack and supplies will be returned to school and the student will be able to check out another one.

Sergeant Bluff-Luton Middle School (Neal Utesch) $500 Toward the purchase of building supplies for the Prairie Development Project on the grounds of the Middle School. Development would include walking paths, benches and informational signs.

2010 Sergeant Bluff-Luton Elementary School (Leslie Ellerbeck) $500 Toward the purchase of geography and history books for the Library Media Center for 3rd – 5th grade students.

Sergeant Bluff-Luton High School (Jennifer Hazel) $500 Toward reimbursement of students’ testing fees through the College Level Examination Program. Project will create a trial test group to compare results to current curriculum. Hope is to interest future students with the potential of earning college credits through CLEP. 2010 . . . continued Sergeant Bluff-Luton Elementary School (Julie Hovland) $500 Funding for After School Math Facts Group resource materials for 3rd through 5th grade students. Group is a program for students who need extra assistance in basic facts.

2011 Sergeant Bluff Luton Middle School (Linda Black) $120 The Brainetics program increases mental math abilities, student enthusiasm, and encourage students to use their math skills in day to day application. Funding to purchase Brainetics software and printed materials.

Sergeant Bluff Luton High School PE (Joel Huffman) $400 Funding for the purchase of two sets of conditioning ropes for P.E. class. Conditioning ropes provide another option for warm-up activities besides running, push-ups, sit-ups, etc.

Sergeant Bluff Luton Primary School (Erin Schuetz) $363 Toward the purchase of two copies of the BookBuilder Software for use by all first grade teachers. The BookBuilder software enhances student learning experience, encourages students to read independently, and increases student reading performance.

2012 Sergeant Bluff Luton High School (Jennifer Hazel) $500 Funding for reimbursement of students’ testing fees through the College Level Examination Program.

Sergeant Bluff Luton Middle School (Julie Hovland) $500 After School Math Facts Group is a program for students who need extra assistance in basic facts. Funding for resource materials including dice, telling time games, fraction sets, math fact and timing games, etc.

Sergeant Bluff Luton Community School District $6,843 Funding for technology pilot project for elementary & middle school to purchase 7 MIMIO Teach Interactive Whiteboards and a document camera.

Sergeant Bluff Luton Community School District $93,702 For the purchase of 180 ChromeBooks and 6 mobile charging carts for the primary and elementary school.

Sergeant Bluff Luton Primary School (Laura Topf) $1,708 Toward the purchase of Daily Five materials for 1st grade students to foster literacy independence in the classroom. Materials will allow students various hands-on activities to improve reading, writing, and comprehension skill.

Sergeant Bluff Luton Primary School (Heidi Utesch) $1,400 Funding will be used to have Julia Cook, author of Bully B.E.A.N.S., make a presentation to students K-6. Program is to offer students, teachers and parents ways through literature to explore the dynamics of bullying and teach students how to prevent it from happening. Sergeant Bluff Luton Primary School (Christine Lieber) $2,500 Funding will be used to purchase Daily Five materials for kindergarten students to foster literacy independence in the classroom. Materials will allow students various hands-on activities to improve reading, writing, and comprehension skills.

Sergeant Bluff Luton Primary School (Teresa Kasik) $1,500 The Daily Five materials would foster literacy independence in first grade classrooms. These materials will allow students to have opportunities to continue to read good-fit books to improve reading and comprehension skills.

Sergeant Bluff Luton Primary School (Lori Klemme) $1,282 Daily Five Reading Books for 1st grade classrooms to share and help students to improve in reading comprehension.

Sergeant Bluff Luton Elementary School (Holly Corcoran) $400 Seeking support for the purchase of an Elmo Document Camera for her 4th grade classroom to allow for greater student engagement, student participation, and the introduction of additional lesson resources.

Sergeant Bluff Luton Elementary School (Allison Moore) $800 MimioTeach Interactive Whiteboards & Document Cameras for 5th Grade Teachers

2015

Sergeant Bluff Luton Elementary School (Tami Little) $457.19 The project will be an activity taught in Media Class for 3rd-5th grade students throughout the year. The project gives the necessary materials to have a wide variety of library book motivational tools as well as an excellent resource for immersing students in to the Spanish language.

Sergeant Bluff Luton Primary School (Erin Schuetz) $1,500 The first classrooms all utilize the Daily Five reading components on a daily basis. One of these components is Read-To-Self, in which students practice building reading fluency by reading books at an appropriate level. Organization Grant Project Description Awards

Sergeant Bluff Luton Elementary School (Terri Gotch) $300 A classroom document camera is a great tool to help to create a more technological advanced classroom. By allowing the students to see virtually everything that the teacher uses to help instruct, a document camera creates for a more focused and enhanced lesson for all students.

Sergeant Bluff Luton Secondary School (Gina Zuercher) $505 All students in my classroom will have the opportunity to use either Hokki stools or the standing desks while in the classroom in order to improve their time on task as well decreased inappropriate classroom behavior. The teacher will use a standing laptop cart to demonstrate use of these items.

Sergeant Bluff Luton Secondary School (John Hensley) $500 Students will start a business for selling flowers and vegetables. The business will include creating webpages, buying product, generating flowers and vegetablesfrom seed, advertising, and sales.

Sergeant Bluff Middle School (Jennifer Lucas) $660.32 I would like to provide students standing desks/stools in my classroom. This would allow students to stand at their desk while learning and utilize the attached swinging foot rest for balance or the stool for rest.
