SIHS Band Calendar as of February 10, 2014, BY DATE This is a tentative calendar. If dates change, students will be notified ASAP.

February: February 10th- Atlanta trip rehearsal at Statesville high school 3:30pm-5:30pm February 11th- 1st Jazz Band practice- Full Jazz Band (anybody who wished to join) 3:30pm-4:30pm, Jazz Combo Practice 4:40pm-5:10pm February 13-March 5th- Butter Braid Fundraiser February 19- BOJANGLES NIGHT- at the Bojangles near the Statesville mall- 1612 E Broad St, Statesville, NC 28625 The SIHS band will receive 10% of everything sold this night. Please support the band and eat at Bojangles tonight from 5pm-8pm!!!!

February 21-23 All District Clinic

March: March 3rd- Atlanta trip rehearsal at Statesville high school 3:30pm-5:30pm March 4th- BAND BOOSTER MEETING 7pm SIHS Band room- We will elect and vote in officers for next year, prepare for Our end of year banquet, and meet my interim who will take over March 24th. March 5th- Butter Braid orders and money due March 8th- All state auditions at East Davidson high school March 13th- Leadership auditions during class March 14th- Leadership auditions during class, Drum Major auditions 4pm-5:30pm March 17th-March 20th= Butter Braids will be delivered one of these dates. Specific Date TBA March 21st-22nd – Atlanta Trip March 25th- All County Jazz Clinic (this date may change to earlier in March)

April: April 12th- Solo and Ensemble April 18th-27th Spring Break

May: May 2nd-4th- All State Band Clinic and UNC Chapel Hill May 6th- Band Booster meeting 7pm SIHS Band room May 12th-May 23rd- Turn in/register any items that you are donating for the silent auction at the End of year Banquet on 5/30 May 15th- Guitar Concert May 29th- End of year Concert 7pm SIHS auditorium- Attire is formal concert black May 30th- End of year banquet, silent auction, and lock-in 7pm Bethel Baptist Church June: June 14th - GRADUATION June 16th-June 17th 9am-4pm- Leadership Camp= cost $15

JAZZ BAND INFO AND REHEARSAL DATES: This year we are going to have 2 different Jazz Bands. The first will be the Full Jazz Band that anybody can participate in. The second will be a Jazz Combo that is only open by audition- you must email a recording of you performing the Jazz Scales to Mrs. Parker by 3:00pm on 2/4- NO EXCEPTIONS!!! Full Jazz Band will practice Tuesdays from 3:30pm-4:30pm. Jazz Combo will practice Tuesdays from 4:40pm-5:10pm. If you audition and are selected to participate in the Jazz Combo, you are also REQUIRED to participate in the Full Jazz Band. No exceptions to this will be made. Jazz Band rehearsal dates: 2/11 4/1 5/27 You MUST attend all rehearsals to receive credit for the 2/18 4/8 after school Jazz Band class. Students involved with sports 2/25 4/15 may participate in Jazz Band, but will not receive credit for 3 /4 4/29 3/11 5/6 the class if they miss more than half the rehearsals. If you 3/18 5/13 are selected to be in the Jazz Combo, you are REQUIRED 3/25 5/20 to participate in the Full Jazz Band. If you do not, you will be replaced by the next highest scoring student. Jazz Band rehearsals may be canceled and students will be told at least a week in advance if a rehearsal is going to be canceled.
