Guided What do you think “verde” means?? Give clues: verde is the color of grass. Practice What do you think “amarillo” means?? Give clues: amarillo is the color of the sun, egg yolks, Jamieen’s shirt, etc. Explore Have students write the word “amarillo”: spell the word out loud. Have the entire class repeat each letter as you write it on the board. Flashcards: have the class rhythmically say the name of each color as you hold it up Repeat as necessary for pronunciation and understanding, focusing especially on the new vocabulary words. Independent I Spy: (With each color)I spy with my little eye, something that is rojo. Have individual Practice students guess what you are thinking of. Guided Have students look at their translation sheets from last class. Ask “who can translate the word Practice rojo?”. Have students volunteer to translate and ask the class to spell each color in unison as Explore you write each word on the board.

Independent Students will complete a matching worksheet. Practice Once completed, have students pass their papers to their neighbor on the right. Together, go Elaborate through each question and have the students correct their neighbor’s work. Assessment V= student makes zero errors in reading the colors Evaluate M=student makes one to two errors A= student makes two or three errors N= student makes three or more errors Integration of Technology Closing Have students read the colors from the board in unison. Have students translate each word in unison.
