5th Grade - Weakest Areas – District Wide

Questions 1-32 had only three questions that were significantly lower than the others but Questions 33-46 had 8 questions with a significant amount of students choosing the wrong answers. STAMINA is a huge issue on this test. Students must know how to self-regulate, take breaks, continue with strategies and close reading especially at the end of the test.

Question 10 – R3 - 5.11(A) Readiness – non-Fiction – summarize the main ideas and supporting details in a text in ways that maintain meaning and logical order

Question 15 – R3 - 5.11 and Figure 19(E) – non-Fiction – summarize and paraphrase texts in ways that maintain meaning and logical order within a text and across texts

Question 29 – Figure 19(F) – make connections (thematic links, author analysis) between and across multiple texts of various genres and provide textual evidence

***Question 33 and 35 and 37 – 5.6(B) Fiction - explain the roles and functions of characters in various plots, including their relationships and conflicts (the lowest results on the entire test)

Question 36 – 5.6(A) – Fiction – describe incidents that advance the story or novel explaining how each incident gives rise to or foreshadows future events

Question 39 – 5.2(B) – use context to determine or clarify the meaning of unfamiliar or multiple meaning words

Question 40 – 5.11(E) – synthesize and make logical connections between ideas within a text and across two or three texts representing similar or different genres

Question 41 – 5.10(A) – Non-Fiction - draw conclusions from the information presented by an author and evaluate how well the author’s purpose was achieved

Question 42 – 5.11(D) – Non-Fiction – use multiple text features and graphics to gain an overview of the contents of text and to locate information
