[734-2] 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 10 11 TO REQUEST THAT THE DEPARTMENT OF 12 TRANSPORTATION NAME THE PORTION OF UNITED 13 STATES HIGHWAY 601 IN JASPER COUNTY FROM ITS 14 INTERSECTION WITH UNITED STATES HIGHWAY 321 TO 15 ITS INTERSECTION WITH THE JASPER/HAMPTON 16 COUNTY LINE THE “EUNICE HOLMAN DOE HIGHWAY” 17 AND ERECT APPROPRIATE MARKERS OR SIGNS ALONG 18 THIS PORTION OF HIGHWAY THAT CONTAIN THE 19 WORDS “EUNICE HOLMAN DOE HIGHWAY”. 20 21 Whereas, the Honorable Eunice Holman Doe served the residents 22 of Jasper County in many capacities during her lifetime; and 23 24 Whereas, she was a member of the Jasper County Council for 25 fourteen years; and 26 27 Whereas, Mrs. Doe was a dedicated school teacher who taught in 28 the Jasper County Public School System for more than thirty years; 29 and 30 31 Whereas, she was a member and choir director of Bethel Baptist 32 Church in Pineland as well as the director of music for the Mt. 33 Carmel Baptist Association for many years; and 34 35 Whereas, it is fitting and proper for the members of the General 36 Assembly to pause in its deliberations to honor this daughter of 37 South Carolina by naming a portion of United States Highway 601 38 in Jasper County the “Eunice Holman Doe Highway”. Now, 39 therefore, 40 41 Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives 42 concurring:

[734] 3 1 2 That the members of the General Assembly request that the 3 Department of Transportation name the portion of United States 4 Highway 601 in Jasper County from its intersection with United 5 States Highway 321 to its intersection with the Jasper/Hampton 6 County line the “Eunice Holman Doe Highway” and erect 7 appropriate markers or signs along this portion of highway that 8 contain the words “Eunice Holman Doe Highway”. 9 10 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to 11 the Department of Transportation. 12 XX 13
