Algebra I Course Syllabus Instructor: Ms Essack Text: Algebra 2 – ______Web Site: http://dessack.tripod.com

Grading: Tests – 50% Class work – 20 % Quizzes – 10% Homework / Notebook – 10% Preparation, Participation and Leadership – 10%

Expectations: Students are expected to maintain an active role in this class. Participation, a good attitude and preparation are essential for success. Students are to arrive to class on time and prepared. (Bring a pen/ pencil, notebook, and text book)

Students are required to have a notebook exclusively for this class. Textbook is to be brought to class at all times. All assignments will be checked/ collected at the beginning of class on the date due.

Homework: You must show all work when doing your homework. Any paper with only answers will be considered incomplete. Always be sure that you date the assignment and write the page and problem numbers that apply. Homework will be checked and graded periodically.

Quizzes will be given about once every week. Most will be announced, though not always. Tests are given at the end of each chapter and count significantly toward your grade. We will always review for tests.

Absences and Make-ups: If you miss a class be sure to see me as soon as possible so that you may make up any work missed. Any tests or quizzes missed must be made up immediately. If you are absent on a “test/quiz” day you will take it the day you get back, unless you are absent for an extended period of time. In this case you will have a week to take it or it will be counted as a zero. Remember, school field trips do NOT excuse you from ANY work or tests/ quizzes given that day. It is YOUR responsibility to see me BEFORE a field trip so that we may work out an acceptable schedule.

Extra Help: If you are having any trouble, please see me as soon as you can. I enjoy working with students and want to do all that I can to ensure that you are able to do your best. J
