Students will develop social networking skills, cognitive strategies, academic behaviors and confidence, and team building as it relates to success within a learning community. The purpose of the Learning Community class (LCOM 80) is to create and facilitate interpersonal relationships between the students, faculty, and the larger college community. Students will understand the relationship between study skills, campus resources, ethical development in classroom interactions, and interpersonal communication and their effect on life management skills, student success and community. 1 Grading and Assignments; Attendance 30points Field Trips (2 ou Journal #1 10 points Journal #2 10 points Campus Resources Quiz &Notes 20 points Final Exam (Journal #3) 30 points

Summer Bridge Student Activities: Students are required to participate in all Summer Bridge Student Activities. All activities will take place on Thursday’s from 1:30pm - 3:30pm. Students must comply with Mt. San Antonio College’s Student Standards of Conduct. No guests are permitted to attend any of the student activities.

Academic Honesty All students are expected to fulfill the rights and responsibilities outlined in the Mount San Antonio College Student Code. The college considers plagiarism and cheating to be a voluntary act for which there may be reason, but for which there is no acceptable excuse. The submission of work which is not a product of the student’s own effort is dishonest and is subject to severe disciplinary action up to and including expulsion from the college. It is important to understand that collaborative learning is considered cheating unless specifically allowed by the professor.

Syllabus Revision The instructors, as needed during the course, may revise the syllabus. Revisions may address both the schedule and the content of the material presented. Students will receive ample notice of revisions.

Student Standards of Conduct:

2 All students are required to abide by the Standards of Conduct set forth by Mt. San Antonio College. Students displaying or demonstrating in the listed behavior may result in removal from the class or further disciplinary action as permitted by the college’s grievance process.

Attendance: Attendance points are awarded as follows: No absences 30 One absence 25 Two absences 20 Three absences 15 Four or more absences 0

Absences for which a medical or court excuse is provided (professional letterhead required) will be recorded but not figured in the attendance points. Likewise, one absence for which advance notice is given by phone or in person will not be figured in the attendance points.

Late Policy:

Students arriving from 8:30 am – 8:45 am are considered late and will be deducted 5 points from their daily attendance points. Students arriving after 8:45 am will be considered absent. It is important for you to be on time!

Assignments All assignments are due at the beginning of class to receive full credit.

All writing take-home assignments must be:  Typed  Double space  Stapled  at least 1.5 – 2 pages  12 font size  Times New Roman font  1 inch margins

You must include your Name, Link Number, PA Name, and center the title of the assignment. No cover page is needed.

*If format is not correct you will be deducted 1 point per bullet point. 3 points will be deducted for lack of effort on content.

In order to receive credit for the assignment, the above requirements must be met.
