Blair-Taylor FFA Officer Selection Process 2015-2016

The 2015-2016 Blair-Taylor FFA Officer Selection Process has three components: the FFA Officer Nomination Form and Biography, a personal resume, and a personal interview. The following is an explanation of each part of the process.

The Officer Nomination Form & Biography The nominee must complete the Blair-Taylor FFA Officer Nomination Form with all of the necessary signatures by the due date. The biography will be used as an introduction of yourself to the selection committee. The selection committee will consist of one Taylor FFA Alumni member, one Blair FFA Alumni member, FFA Advisor, and graduating senior FFA officers. Both must be turned in by THURSDAY, APRIL 2, 2015.

The Resume Each candidate must prepare a resume. The resume should include the following items: Personal Information, (name, address, phone, birth date, grade level, parents, etc.) work experience, (SAE, what job you hold or things you do, animals you own, etc.) FFA activities, other school and community activities, awards and honors you have earned, and a reference listing (Three people with complete addresses and phone numbers). The resume is limited to two pages and the reference page should be a separate third page. Four copies must be turned in with the nomination form and biography.

The resume is worth 30 points in the election process. The resume will be scored by the selection committee. You will receive a ranking based on your scores.

The Interview Each candidate will have a fifteen-minute interview by the outgoing FFA officers, FFA Alumni representatives, and the FFA Advisor. The interviews will occur on Wednesday, April 8th from 3:45-6:30. You will need to organize a time with Mrs. Hanson.

The interview is worth 30 points in the election process. You will receive a ranking based on your scores.

Total Score The 2015-2016 Blair-Taylor FFA Officers will be selected by the sum of the ranks of the scores of resume and the interview.

Student and Parent must initialize each item after it is read.

Student Parent I will conduct myself at all times to be a credit to myself, my family, the school and the FFA Organization. ______

I will participate in all FFA activities and be on time for them. ______I will notify the FFA Advisor or Chapter President of lateness or not being able to attend any activity (in this case you will find a replacement for yourself .

(Arrangements may be made if there is a conflict.) ______--FFA Banquet, May 2015/2016 -- FFA State Convention June 9-12 -- FFA Officer Training, July 7-9 --Sectional Leadership Workshop, September 2015 --FFA Officer Meetings --Regular FFA Chapter meetings

I will act in a responsible manner. (i.e. not endangering ______others or their property)

I will not be convicted of law violations. (i.e. theft, ______suspension of license, drug use, alcohol use, etc.)

I will lead by example in the classroom, community and ______at FFA and school events.

I will be enrolled in or assigned to Agricultural Education ______during the 2015-2016 school year.

The failure to follow the above agreement may lead to the termination of your position as a Blair-Taylor FFA Officer. The decision will be made after conferring of the FFA Advisor, the Principal, the Chapter FFA President, the FFA Officer in question and their parents.

3 Blair-Taylor FFA Officer Interview Questions

The interview process is to give the FFA Officer candidate experience in interviewing skills and thinking under pressure. We hope this will help the chapter in furthering the depth of the understanding of what it means to be a Blair-Taylor FFA Officer.

During the interview, the candidate could be asked questions like the following:

1. Why do you want to be a Blair-Taylor FFA Officer? 2. What makes you qualified for a position as an FFA Chapter Officer? 3. How have you shown sufficient commitment to the FFA prior to now? 4. What does it mean to be part of a team? How would you describe how you get along with others? 5. What is integrity? How does it apply to being a Blair-Taylor FFA Officer? 6. How would you encourage students to join the FFA and take ag classes? 7. How should the honor of being a Blair-Taylor FFA Officer be treated? 8. What would be your personal goal as a Blair-Taylor FFA Officer? 9. What should be the FFA’s three highest priorities? Why? 10.What activity interests you the most in the FFA? 11.What office do you have an interest in? 12.What skills do you have to serve as (specific office)? 13.How will you handle the time commitment of serving as a Blair-Taylor FFA Officer? 14.What are three things the FFA should do next year that it has never done before? How can we help them? 18.A Situational Question may be included.
