HOW TO SIGN YOUR TEAM UP: Register online at ocdvolleyball.org under the Register Tab or click below. http://ocdvolleyball.cloudaccess.net/index.php/register/online-entry FAQ:

What does the entry fee pay for? Players are guaranteed a minimum of 6 sets to 21pts. (it often exceeds this amount), pizza, water, prizes for top finishers and of course, the chance to work on your summer tan!

What levels are there and which should I play? Juniors – Teams composed of junior players (ages 10-18 – going into senior year of high school and younger). Play in this division would be developmental based. When possible we generally split juniors into an advanced, intermediate and beginner divisions (similar to varsity, junior varsity and freshman modified play).

AA (Adult Play) – Features experienced outdoor players that serve well (strong jump serves), mix of aggressive swings and well placed shots when attacking, good serve receive/ball control, female players that can block areas of the court.

A (Adult Play) – Skilled players that excel in several, but not all areas of the game. Level features seasoned players that serve and pass well, good attacking skills and general placement of the ball. Rallies tend to last longest in this division as the defense matches the offense.

BB/B (Adult Play) – Often features newer players and teams breaking into the outdoor volleyball scene, or experienced veterans looking to continue to play. A strong serve or attacker tends to control play in this division.

What is the schedule like? After check-in, there is a captain’s meeting to go over park information and playing rules. Play begins promptly after meeting with round robin pool play. A specific amount of teams will qualify for playoffs based on round robin pool play. It depends on the level you’re signed up to play, but general pool play lasts about 4 to 5 hours and playoffs follow.

Is the size of the court different? Doubles format is played on a smaller court than your typical 6-on-6 indoor high school or club court. The court is 1 meter shorter in all directions. The reach of 2 players is much smaller than the reach of 6, so it’s a great adjustment that promotes longer rallies and more touches on the ball!

How many men or women have to be on a team? Only two players per team allowed. No substituting or replacements allowed.

What does coed-Reverse mean? Male and female pair up and play together on a women’s height net (7’4”). Men must take off behind the ten-foot line when attacking the ball. Only women can block.

Will my team have work assignments? Yes, each team will have a work assignment. It involves keeping score and enforcement of any major rules for other junior matches like net violations or doubles and lifts. No whistles required. What are the rules? Current USA Volleyball Beach will be used. These rules are on our website under “Player Resources”. General guidelines will be explained at the general meeting the morning of the tournament and be placed on your clipboards. Major differences: there is no tipping, no open-hand serve receive, and the block counts as a touch.

What are the prizes? Prizes will be awarded to top finishers. They range but typical prizes are tee shirts, bags, hats, etc.

How do I get there? Where do I park? Directions – www.ocdvolleyball.org click on the directions link.

What happens in the event of bad weather? We do play through rain, but not during extended rain or thunderstorms. Cancellations are not made until 7:30 a.m. the morning of the tournament and will be posted on the OCD Volleyball Facebook page.
