On behalf of the US Forest Service, I am pleased and honored to extend this invitation for you to serve as our keynote speaker at our upcoming conference on Important Topics in Washington, DC, to attend a series of meetings with key government, industry and academic leaders. As proposed, we would like to host you from January 3, 2007 to February 10, 2007. In the event that your arrival must be postponed or is delayed, please inform us so we may adjust your program dates and itinerary appropriately. A draft itinerary is attached for your review.
We will be able to provide you with office space, computer and internet access in our Washington, DC office. You will also have access to an intern for administrative support. You will be provided travel tickets, airport transportation, temporary housing, an allowance of $2,000 and medical and emergency evacuation insurance. As per our discussion, we understand that you will not be bringing dependents. Thus, the furnished studio apartment we have identified and the living allowance should be sufficient for your 5-week stay.
Attached please find an International Visitor Information Sheet and Form ARS-230. Please complete these forms and return them with all other required documents us as soon as possible. Upon successful review, you will be issued a Certificate of Eligibility for Exchange Visitor (J-1) status (Form DS-2019), which will allow you to apply for a J-1 Visa and participate in the Exchange Visitor Program. International Programs will also provide you with additional information regarding the Exchange Visitor Program regulations and your responsibilities. These can be found at www.xxxxxxxxx. You will also receive substantial pre-arrival information and instructions. Please note that your participation is contingent upon eligibility for J-1 exchange visitor status. Also, during your stay here you are responsible for adhering to all Forest Service, immigration and exchange visitor program regulations and procedures. If you have additional questions about logistical arrangements, please do not hesitate to contact Mr. Super Assistant at [email protected].
We look forward to your visit and participation in these important events and meetings. I believe we will benefit greatly from your contributions and that this opportunity for exchange will allow us to learn much from each other.
Sincerely,
Dr. Babelfish Research Director
