PANERA BREAD AND THE REGIONAL CANCER CENTER FOUNDATION PARTNER TO FIGHT BREAST CANCER THIS OCTOBER THROUGH THE SALE OF PINK RIBBON BAGELS

ERIE, PA – September 29, 2014 – Panera Bread will raise money for Breast Cancer through sales of the Pink Ribbon Bagels during the month of October. The participating Panera Bread bakery-cafes of Erie will donate 100% of the Pink Ribbon Bagel sales on Wednesday, October 1st to The Regional Cancer Center Foundation. These Panera Bread bakery- cafes will also continue to donate a portion of all Pink Ribbon Bagel sales throughout the remainder of October to The Regional Cancer Center Foundation.

Donated funds from this campaign to the Regional Cancer Center Foundation will help patients to receive the care that they need and that many cannot afford. “Many of the things that mean the most to cancer patients are not covered by their insurance, but these things are made possible by donations,” commented Lisa Louis, Director of The Regional Cancer Center’s Foundation. “We are grateful for Panera Bread’s contributions that help keep sophisticated cancer care close to home in the Erie region.”

For the past five years, Panera has donated funds to The Regional Cancer Center through Pink Ribbon Bagel sales in the month of October and through Operation Dough Nation which collects spare change from guests in canisters at the café registers.

“Panera Bread is honored to have been able to have donated directly into the Erie market and support such a worthy cause. We thank our loyal customers for their support with this campaign, over the years, and helping Panera make a difference every October for Breast Cancer Awareness,” said Sam Covelli, Owner Operator, Covelli Enterprises/Panera Bread.

Shaped in the form of the iconic pink ribbon, Pink Ribbon Bagels feature cherry chips, dried cherries and cranberries, vanilla, honey, and brown sugar, and are baked fresh early each morning by Panera’s bakers at each bakery-café. This is the fifth year that the Erie Panera Bread bakery-cafes are supporting The Regional Cancer Center through the sale of the Pink Ribbon Bagels.

During the month of October, The Regional Cancer Center Foundation is the recipient of the Operation Dough Nation canisters in each of the Erie Panera Bread bakery-cafes.
