Welcome to the 2015 NEWHAB Annual Meeting!

The Network for Water, Energy and Health in Affordable Buildings (NEWHAB) is a group of individuals dedicated to driving increased affordability, health and comfort through efficient energy and water use in multifamily housing. Through our learning network, members leapfrog beyond current policies, programs and partnerships to build solutions together.

NEWHAB is YOUR network. NEWHAB members and allies -- you -- determine what the network does. A task force of members and allies was formed to design a meeting that fosters our learning network and generates action. As a task force, we focused on achieving several goals, which are reflected in the meeting design:

● We planned to increase connectivity between NEWHAB members and allies, with a focus on fostering cross-sector collaboration and mentorship between current and emerging leaders.

Be sure to check out the Collaborative Construction building a sculpture from the introductions we make to one another. That’s also why we’re sharing and Exploring NEWHAB’s Network Map. Be sure to Decorate your Name Tag to make connecting easy! Take advantage of the Monday evening reception and dinner, Tuesday breakfast and lunch, and - if you’re still in town - the Tuesday evening Happy Hour and Dinner Club.

● We designed breakout sessions to practice peer-to-peer learning and to focus on action and self- organization around themes YOU are excited about.

Expect to share your experiences, plan to ask questions, and work to HEAR and UNDERSTAND where others are coming from so we can move forward together as a unified network. Suggest Chew Up a Challenge! topics and tasks to move the ideas we explore here to execution, and sign up for groups before you leave for home.

● We focused on inclusivity.

Expect to hear from a range of presenters, with varied backgrounds and experience. As the task force framed topics and identified speakers, they focused on drawing in perspectives which are underrepresented and needed within NEWHAB. The task force worked hard to identify varied perspectives, but we certainly missed some! In the spirit of inclusivity, please speak up and share your unique perspective.
