We Appreciate Your Willingness to Serve at Camp

TEEN CAMP VOLUNTEERS,

We are gearing up for a great Teen Camp July 15-19, 2013 at Camp Scottsville. Thank you ahead of time for your interest and assistance in making it a life-changing week for our teens!

Two items of note regarding Teen Camp Volunteers/Counselors: o Each church with students attending Teen Camp must send at least one adult counselor along with them. We believe that when adults accompany teens to camp there is a shared experience and the opportunity for growth and discipleship between students and adult(s) that can continue long after camp is over.

o There is a strict policy regarding background screening of volunteer staff. The purpose is simply to provide the most secure and safe environment for the youth that come to our camp seeking a life-changing experience with God. For Teen Camp, all volunteers must be at least 22 years old or a college graduate with exceptions for church staff or camp director’s recommendation.

What does a Teen Camp Volunteer/Counselor do? The main role is to build relationships with the teens from the local church in order to serve as a spiritual guide during the week and beyond. Counselors will serve primarily as dorm room or cabin leaders for a gender specific group of students as well as a small group leader with teens from their local church. During the day counselors will have the opportunity to choose how they are involved in the daytime activities such as pool/lake watch, service project leader/assistance, discipleship activity assistance, games/activities assistance.

For those interested in becoming a Teen Camp Volunteer/Counselor… o Complete the following Volunteer Application and return it by the deadline (July 1). o Ask your Pastor to complete the Pastoral Recommendation and return it by the deadline (July 1). o Once your application has been received and reviewed you will be contacted by the Camp Director. o Once accepted please plan to meet with the camp director for orientation at 5:00 p.m. on the first day of camp.

If you have any questions about this process or serving as a volunteer please contact me. I’m already praying for a great week of camp and I trust you will join me in doing the same.

May God bless you abundantly for your willingness to serve Him and our teens!

Investing in the lives of youth,
