2017 Cabell County Schools Grades 9-12 Credit Recovery Summer School Fact Sheet Location Huntington East Middle School Beginning Date Monday, June 26, 2017; Orientation Friday, June 23, Cafeteria: Grades 6-8, 11:00 AM; Grades 9-12, 9:00 AM Ending Date Friday, July 21, 2017 Fees Regular Price: $75 One Class; $125 Two Classes; $150 Three Classes Reduced/Free Lunch Price: $40 One; $60 Two; $75 Three ALL FEES ARE PAYABLE BY JUNE 23, 2017 to the Central Office Curriculum Department. If payment is not made, a collection agency will be notified. This includes students who register, attend, and then drop out of summer school. Registration Registration is open to students in grades 9-12 enrolled in Cabell County Schools on or before May 23, 2017. Registration is preferred to be completed by the student’s counselor by the last day for students or parents upon receipt of grade card. Students must live in county to attend summer school. Registration high school credit recovery and payment for high school courses will also be held in the lobby of the Central Office, June 13-14, from 10 AM-12 PM. The last day to register for summer school will be June 14, 2017 at the orientation meeting at Huntington East Middle during the specific grade level times. Registration Link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/RXX6KJN Attendance Students will attend during designated time periods between 8:00 AM and 2:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Daily attendance is tied to the successful completion of recovery courses or mastery of skills. Students who missed less than 20 days during the school year will be permitted to complete assignments (not tests) at home with the permission of the assigned teacher and parent. Successful Completion Students will complete their course(s) when they have successfully passed every unit test assigned to him/her. For instance, if a student is able to complete the coursework in three weeks, he/she may do so; however, all work must be completed no later than Friday, July 21, 2016. Transcription of Grades The student’s failing grade will remain on the student’s transcript. The recovered grade will be the average of the original final grade with the Odysseyware grade. For example: If a student failed English 10 during the regular school year with 55% and then received an 82% in Odysseyware during summer school, his/her transcript would reflect two English 10 courses: One will be the original course attempted and the other will be the 82% being averaged with the 55% for his cumulative grade point average. The original course grade will be excluded from the GPA calculation.
