Fayetteville Academy Parents Association (FAPA) Meeting Minutes

Meeting – Tuesday, February 7, 2017

The meeting was held in the cafeteria and called to order by our FAPA President Meredith Wiles.

Attendees: Meredith Wiles, FAPA President Bonnie Lutynski, FAPA Secretary Tiffany Myers, FAPA Treasurer Ray Quesnel, Head of School Keith Blades, Head of Lower School --also in attendance were parents of both lower, middle and upper schools.

Treasure’s Report by Tiffany Myers: Money made from the business book sale was $780. $830 minus $50 for printing cost. $15 debit for a refund on the spirit rock. Total in account is $6468.31.

Update from Meredith Wiles: The advertising book was a success! The cost to make the book was around $50 and we have made over $800. Spirit Wear online store closed 2/10, but we will reopen it very soon for the two weeks with additional items.

Update from Ray Quesnel, Head of School: Thank you to all the host families for the China students. The students from China performed at the LS assembly and helped out with after school activities during the two weeks they were visiting FA. Midyear Hires – Mr. Lionel Ownsworth starts 2/13 replacing Mrs. Wallis Quaintance in 4th grade. Mrs. Quaintance is leaving FA to join her husband in Virginia where he has started a new job. We have a new U/S head of school starting July 1st. More information will be coming.

Update from Keith Blades, L/S Head of School: Save the Date for March 13th from 530-7pm we will have Dr. Seuss Night at FA. There will be food trucks and lots of fun. Please plan to come. More details to come.

Fine Arts Booster Committee, Kris Armstrong: Seussical is planned for April 2017. For those with ideas or who can volunteer to help please send an email to [email protected] There is a WISH LIST for those who can style “Who Hair”, prop helpers, set builders. There will be an email going out/flyer sent home for Pre-K and K for approximately $5.50 for each shirt for the program. The idea is to have “60 things” shirts for the kids. Grandparents Day is April 21 and there will be a production of the Seussical. There is plans for a Grandparents Day Seuss backdrop celebrating the theme.

Movie Nights Committee: Movie Night is set for April 29th. More information to come. Still need a sponsor/sponsors for this to happen. There is places for multiple advertisements for those sponsors of movie night.

Big Friends/Little Friends Committee, Jordan Capps: No update.

Auction Committee: Invites for the auction will be mailed out this week. Raffle tickets will not be sold at the door the night of the event. There will be several trips auctioned off, gift baskets and special items auctioned off. Kmart is having a 50% going out of business sale. Great items can be picked up for the classroom baskets. There will be a silent and live auction. Update from Tina McLaurin, Director of After School/Before School Care: After school and before school sign ups need to be with Kim Kubit in Lower School and not Tina Mc Laurin.
