Free Fishing Clinics for Children Held at Ten Milwaukee County Parks

(Milwaukee, WI) – Free fishing clinics for children ages 15 and under will take place throughout Milwaukee County on Saturday, April 8th from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm. Clinics begin every hour. Children 6 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Groups of 25 or more must register in advance.

Participants should bring their own equipment, though a limited number of rods and reels will be available for children. Local fishing club members will teach knot tying, safe use of equipment, proper fishing techniques and fish identification.

The following parks will host the fishing clinics: 1. Brown Deer Park, 7835 N. Green Bay Rd. 2. Greenfield Park, 2028 S. 124th St. 3. Humboldt Park, 3000 S. Howell Ave. 4. McCarty Park, 8214 W. Cleveland Ave. (wheelchair accessible) 5. McGovern Park, 5400 N. 51 Blvd. (wheelchair accessible) 6. Mitchell Park, 524 S. Layton Blvd. 7. Grant Park – Oak Creek, Mill Pond on Oak Creek Pkwy. 8. Scout Lake Park, 5902 W. Loomis Rd. (wheelchair accessible) 9. Sheridan Park, 4800 S. Lake Dr. 10. Wilson Park, 1601 W. Howard Ave.

The clinics are presented by the Milwaukee County Parks, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and the Wisconsin Council of Sport Fishing Organization. Clinics will also take place in Waukesha and Racine Counties. For information call (414) 257- PARK(7275) or the DNR at (414) 263-8614.
