PRESS RELEASE Shanghai Police chooses Phonak to strengthen World Expo radio communications

Murten, Switzerland, June 2010 – Swiss miniaturized communications specialist, Phonak Communications has signed one of China’s largest ever radio accessory orders with the Shanghai Police.

The deal comprises the supply of over 3,000 primero in-ear noise reduction headsets, the majority of which are being supplied with Phonak’s custom-designed speakermics and wireless PTT units.

These primero systems have been purchased by Shanghai Police with World Expo 2010 firmly in mind. This event runs in Shanghai until October of this year and sees the arrival of many thousands of visitors from across the world, requiring the city’s Police to have access to the very best communications technology available.

 Custom-configured lapel-worn speakermic units

 Wireless PTT (Push To Talk) units

Shanghai Police will use its primero systems to communicate via TETRA portable radio in high-noise situations, with the option of using externally-worn speakermic units to communicate when noise levels decrease. primero is one of Phonak Communications’ most popular radio accessories, providing optimal intelligibility thanks to its VIP (Voice Intra-aural Pick-up) and BSS (Blind Source Separation) technologies.
