Brannon 27 28 29 HISTORY OF LEGISLATIVE ACTIONS 30 31 Date Body Action Description with journal page number 32 6/15/2016 House Introduced and adopted ( House Journalpage 16) 33 34 View the latest legislative information at the website 35 36 37 VERSIONS OF THIS BILL 38 39 6/15/2016 40 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 A HOUSE RESOLUTION 10 11 TO CONGRATULATE AND COMMEND THE HONORABLE 12 NORMAN D. “DOUG” BRANNON ON HIS MERITORIOUS 13 SERVICE IN THE SOUTH CAROLINA HOUSE OF 14 REPRESENTATIVES OVER THE PAST SIX YEARS AND TO 15 WISH HIM CONTENTMENT AND SUCCESS IN ALL HIS 16 FUTURE ENDEAVORS. 17 18 Whereas, for six years, the Honorable Norman D. “Doug” Brannon 19 with faithful integrity has represented the citizens of Spartanburg 20 County’s District 38 in the House of Representatives of this great 21 State; and 22 23 Whereas, this native of Detroit, Michigan, was born on April 22, 24 1961, to Norman and Marion E. Brannon; and 25 26 Whereas, in preparation for his career and future public service, 27 the young Doug earned his bachelor’s degree at the University of 28 South Carolina in 1996, followed by a juris doctor in 2000 from 29 the University of South Carolina School of Law; and 30 31 Whereas, presently residing in Landrum, Doug serves his fellow 32 citizens as an attorney with the Kennedy|Brannon, PA, law firm. 33 He was elected to serve in the South Carolina House of 34 Representatives and in 2011 began his first term as a member of 35 that body; and 36 37 Whereas, on the occasion of his election to the House, Doug 38 Brannon had already proven his worth as a public servant, having 39 previously served on Landrum City Council (19911993) and as 40 mayor of the City of Landrum (19931997); and 41

[5489] 2 1 Whereas, during his years in the House, Doug Brannon has used 2 his experience for the benefit of his constituents and other citizens 3 of our State as a member of the Judiciary Committee and Election 4 Laws Subcommittee. After the tragic events of June 17, 2015, at 5 Charleston’s Mother Emanuel Church, he was the first in his party 6 to call publicly for the removal of the Confederate flag from the 7 grounds of the South Carolina State House. Known as somewhat 8 of a “maverick,” Representative Brannon has rendered service 9 marked by his choice always to do what he feels is right for all the 10 people of South Carolina, rather than what is perhaps politically 11 expedient; and 12 13 Whereas, as a proud husband and father, Doug Brannon finds his 14 strongest support in his lovely wife, Tracey, and his four delightful 15 children, Spike, Chris, Lexi, and Cody; and 16 17 Whereas, Doug Brannon’s colleagues in the House of 18 Representatives thank him for his dedication to the people of 19 District 38 and extend best wishes for all the best life has to offer 20 in the coming years. Now, therefore, 21 22 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives: 23 24 That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, 25 by this resolution, congratulate and commend the Honorable 26 Norman D. “Doug” Brannon on his meritorious service in the 27 South Carolina House of Representatives over the past six years 28 and wish him contentment and success in all his future endeavors. 29 30 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to 31 our distinguished colleague, the Honorable Norman D. “Doug” 32 Brannon. 33 XX 34
