IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR THE SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS
Abstracts can be submitted in the following categories:
1. Basic Science (submissions open : 7 January 2015 submission closes: 23.59hrs 1 March 2015)
For all other categories submission closure deadline is 23:59hrs 1 December 2014
2. Acute coronary syndromes 3. Interventional Cardiology 4. Cardiac Rhythm Management 5. Heart Failure 6. Valve disease/pericardial disease/cardiomyopathy 7. Stable IHD/Prevention/Hypertension/Lipids 8. Imaging 9. Congenital Heart Disease 10. BCS Affiliates – allied professionals (BACPR/BANCC) These abstracts will be presented during the prevention and rehab track
Note: Epidemiology and Populations studies should be included in the relevant category above. Abstracts may be saved and re-edited before the final deadline. Please see instructions on the submission website. Please use the username and password you create to edit your abstract. You must click “Submit” before the abstract deadline, otherwise your abstract may not be accepted. Abstracts cannot be submitted after the deadline. The site will close for submission and late entries to these categories cannot be processed. Authors do not need to be members of the BCS. If accepted, one of the authors must be available to present the abstract at the BCS Annual Conference. First authors must be aware that if more than 2 abstracts are accepted into a single category then it may be necessary to nominate a co-author to present at the Conference in addition. Failure to present an abstract may result in a 3 year submission ban for all authors. If you wish to withdraw your abstract – this can be done only under exceptional circumstances. A letter should be sent to Prof Clifford Garratt on [email protected] All submitted abstracts must not have been accepted for publication elsewhere at the time of submission. The top rated abstract(s) in each category will be eligible for a travel grant and poster prize Authors should be aware that the press have open access to the sessions. Multiple abstracts around the same subject or using the same dataset (salami publication) is discouraged and may be penalised by the markers where it is felt that the data could have been better presented as a single abstract. Please complete all fields marked (*) as these are required for administration. Abstract Title - Upper case letters only (max 250 characters). Abstract Text - mixed case letters (max 3000 characters). Please structure your abstract with a brief introduction, explanation of basic methods, results and conclusions/implications. To insert special characters please use the button from the HTML editor, for tables use or images use button. If you have constructed your abstract in Word already then use the “Paste from Word” button to enter your information into the submission system. Please not that images are not transferred from Word. legible. Your table should not exceed 10 rows. (The BCS reserves the right to withdraw an abstract if the tables are illegible.) Graphs should be inserted as image files. A maximum of 2 tables are allowed per abstract Images should be submitted as jpegs. They will be reproduced at a maximum size of 8cm X 8 cm and should be legible at this size. A maximum of 2 graphs, each with single x-y axis, are allowed in an image, and a maximum of 2 images per abstract. Images should be saved and supplied as GIF, TIFF, EPS or JPEG files, at a minimum resolution of 300 dpi Use the preview button to see how your abstract will look once you have entered all your information.
