The meeting was called to order by Chair Rawat at 8:10 A.M. in Thomas #117.
1. Minutes. MSC to approve the Minutes of September 13, 2012.
2. Agenda. MSC to approve the Agenda.
3. Communications and Announcements.
1. Our proposal to retain the current APM322a, Department Policies on Teaching Effectiveness, was passed by the Senate.
2. APM 327 with the additional criteria for promotion to full professor was passed by the Senate.
3. Memo regarding changes to APM 320 was sent to the Executive Senate Committee.
4. The Senate returned APM 361, 302, 306, 307 to the Personnel Committee. The Personnel Committee will review these policies to ensure that changes in the new Collective Bargaining Agreement are reflected within these policies.
5. APM 322a and continuing and global education courses An email from Dr. Scott Moore inquired about the possibility of exempting Continuing and Global Education (CGE) courses from evaluation through student ratings. Faculty members that teach CGE courses must abide by APM 322, Policy on Teaching Effectiveness, and APM 322a (Departmental Policy on Teaching Effectiveness), which sets the minimum number of courses that must be evaluated through student ratings for each faculty

member. The courses that are to be evaluated are selected as a result of collaboration between the faculty member and the Department Chair. It is the faculty member’s department which administers the student ratings and not Division of Continuing & Global Studies. A memo stating this will be sent to Dr. Scott Moore.
6. APM 332 Review of APM 332 was completed. This policy will be forwarded to the Executive Senate Committee.
7. APM 361 APM 361 was reviewed.
