I. Call to Order 11:05 a.m. EDT

II. Approval of Minutes: CDR Satcher-Johnson motioned to approve the April and May meeting minutes; LCDR Thornton-Morris seconded the motion to approve with suggested changes. All voting members approved; none opposed.

III. Chair Report and Old Business

 CDR Valentin-Bon congratulated all the BASPAG members who were promoted.  CDR Valentin-Bon thanked all those who attended the BASPAG breakout session during the COA meeting in June. CAPT Calvin Edwards from PHS2 S2N! gave a leadership training presentation entitled “Leading Before You Are in Charge”. After the presentation BASPAG presented CAPT Edwards with a plaque.

IV. New Business

 Special Presentation - Keynote Speaker Dr. Miriam Alexander, Director of the Mid-Atlantic Public Health Center (John Hopkins University), she gave an informational presentation about the Mid-Atlantic Public Health Center. Officers can access online public health training through the link http://www.jhsph.edu/maphtc and www.publichealthtrainingcenters.org

 CDR Valentin-Bon discussed a few possibilities for the Recruitment and Retention Subcommittee leadership. The list of possibilities will be e-mailed to the BASPAG voting membership for consideration.

V. Standing Subcommittee Reports

a. Awards - LCDR Shani Smith The Awards Subcommittee will have LCDR David Hunter as a keynote speaker. He will give a presentation on techniques for writing effective nominations for PHS awards during the November BASPAG teleconference.

b. Communications - LCDR Tiffny Cannon: No report

c. Membership - LCDR Anna Satcher-Johnson discussed about Membership drive and welcome officers to submit an application to become Voting Members for next year. An announcement was sent through JOAG, MOLC, all the PAG’s and HSO Weekly Announcements

d. Mentoring – LCDR Amy Chanlongbutra: No report

e. Professional Development – CDR John Jaworski: December meeting will have a talk on online trainings available for BASPAG Officers

f. Recruitment and Retention (R&R) – Vacant

VI. Open Floor a. LCDR Samil Kaur introduced herself as the HS PAC representative for the Recruitment & Retention Subcommittee (R&R). She talked about gathering the information for the HSO R&R and requested to send her your name, rank and contact information to be reported on HS PAC R&R reports by COB July 20th, 2012.
