If a horse is being leased or purchased on a sales contract, the lessee or new owner may have their name listed as owner if proper documentation is provided to the Show Secretary. In AOTR classes, leased horses MAY NOT BE SHOWN BY THE LESSEE unless the lessee and lessor are members of the immediate family. No farm names will be listed unless the farm is the recorded owner of the horse – NO EXCEPTIONS! Copies of current AHA, USEF and USDF (if applicable) cards must also be included with the entry. An open check will be required in the show office in order to pick up exhibitor packets. DO NOT send open checks or postdated checks. Emailed or faxed entries and/or documents will not be acknowledged until the official confirmations are sent out. The preferred means for receiving entries is through the mail. However, in the event you need to provide documents electronically, you can send them to Show Secretary , [email protected]. An Incomplete Entry Fee of $25 will be charged for any required documents, (membership cards, proof of safe sport training, registration papers, qualifications) not submitted with entries.

It is the responsibility of the person(s) signing the Entry Form to verify that the horse is eligible to be entered and compete in the Regional Championship class. Check the 2021 AHA Handbook for updated qualification guidelines. EXHBITORS MUST INCLUDE QUALIFICATION PAGE, IF COPY IS FROM AHA DOWNLOAD, YOU MUST IDENTIFY YOUR QUALIFYING CLASS. You may submit a Printed Qualification record from the AHA web site but must identify qualifying classes.

Paying by PayPal: Enter the amount from your entry form. Be sure to list the horse’s name and amount in the “Notes” section. If the payment amount is for multiple horses or for other items, list the horse’s name and amount for each horse in the “Notes”. Failure to do so will cause an additional fee of $50.00 per horse to figure out what you did. Help us with the details to make the entry process smooth. Enter your PayPal information on the entry blank. You must print out your PayPal confirmation receipt and include it with your form. Be sure to enter your email address. This is where the confirmation will be sent. You must print it out and include it with your entry form when you mail it in. If this confirmation is not included with the entry form, a Post Entry Fee will be incurred.

23

There will be an express line for exhibitors that have perfect entries (where all documents and payment are received, all signatures are there and only need to review coggins/health papers.)

INCOMPLETE ENTRY FEE ($25 per horse) may be assessed on any entry that is received without one or more of the following: An incomplete entry form (front & back); missing copies of registration papers; missing copies of AHA or USEF cards for trainers, owners, riders, drivers, handlers, any missing AHA, Region 9, USEF waivers.

AHA MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS: All horses entered in any AHA Regional Show shall be owned by a competing member of AHA. This rule does include Junior Exhibitor owners. Any trainer, rider, driver, or halter handler who exhibits horses in the ring or signs the entry form as the responsible person for an individual’s horses at the show must have a Competition Level Membership in AHA. An AHA Competition Card and membership in AHA and Regional qualifications [review the updated guidelines in the 2021 AHA Handbook] are required for Regional Championship classes; Single Event Memberships are not allowed. We encourage you to join one of the local clubs found in the front of this prize list prior to the show.

USEF AMATEUR MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS: Every rider or driver having reached his 19th birthday prior to December 1, 2020 must have in his possession a USEF Amateur card or apply for a USEF Membership and Amateur card in the show office at least one hour prior to riding in an Amateur to Ride/Handle Class. Below is the USEF General Rule regarding SafeSport and the SafeSport Training requirement. GR1303 Safe Sport Requirements

Consistent with the mission statement of the Federation, the welfare of equestrian participants, especially minors, is of paramount concern. When any member -- athlete, participant, trainer, coach, organizer, official, volunteer, or staff member -- is subjected to or engages in abuse or misconduct, it undermines the mission of the Federation and is inconsistent with the best interests of equestrian sport and of the athletes the Federation serves. The Safe Sport Policy and U.S. Center for Safe Sport’s Code have been created to protect all athletes from misconduct they may experience within sport. The education and training of all participants in equestrian sport is crucial to the protection of athletes, reporting of misconduct, and eradication of abuse in our sport.

The U.S. Center for SafeSport (Center) is the first and only national organization of its kind focused on ending all forms of abuse in sport. As an independent non-profit headquartered in Denver, CO, the Center provides consultation to sport entities on prevention techniques and policies, while developing best practices and educational programs focused on promoting athlete wellbeing and putting an end to abuse in sports. The Center also provides a safe, professional, and confidential place for individuals to report sexual abuse.

The Federation Safe Sport Policy defines a “Federation Participant” as any Federation member, or non-member, who participates in or attends a Federation Licensed Competition or sanctioned event. The Federation’s Safe Sport Policy can be found at www.usef.org and the U.S. Center for SafeSport Code can be found at www.safesport.org a. Every Federation member and Federation Participant shall abide by the Federation’s Safe Sport Policy and the U.S. Center for SafeSport Code, which can be found at www.usef.org and www.safesport.org respectively. b. In order to comply with S. 534, the Protecting Young Victim’s from Sexual Abuse and Safe Sport Authorization Act of 2017, the Federation Safe Sport Policy, and the U.S. Center for SafeSport Code, every Federation adult member and Federation adult Participant, with the exception of the victim, shall report suspected sexual misconduct, including sexual abuse, and suspected child abuse, within 24 hours to the appropriate authorities and to the U.S. Center for SafeSport. c. Beginning January 1, 2021, every Federation adult member (18 years of age and over) with a “Competing Membership” shall complete Federation-approved Safe Sport Training in accordance with the U.S. Center for SafeSport’s Education & Training Policies.

Motorized Vehicle Use: Minors who do not have a valid driver’s license which allows them to operate a motorized vehicle in the state in which they reside will not be permitted to operate a motorized vehicle of any kind, including, but not limited to, golf carts, motorcycles, scooters, or farm utility vehicles, on the competition grounds of licensed competitions. Minors who have a valid temporary license may operate the above described motorized vehicles as long as they are accompanied by an adult with a valid driver’s license. The parent/legal guardian or individual who signs the entry blank as a parent or guardian of a minor operating a motorized vehicle in violation of this rule are solely responsible for any damages, claims, losses or actions resulting from that operation. Violations of this rule will be cause for penalties against those responsible for the child committing the offense. Wheelchairs and other mobility assistance devices for individuals with disabilities are exempt from this rule. The unsafe use of personal electronic transport devices, as determined by the competition officials and management in their sole discretion, that do not require a driver’s license to operate, including but not limited to segways, hover boards, and single wheeled scooters is prohibited on competition grounds. Operating such devices in areas where people gather may be deemed “unsafe use” if there is a risk of harm to others. If the operator of the device is a minor, the parent/legal guardian or individual who signs the entry blank as a parent or guardian of a minor operating the device in violation of this rule is accountable and may be subject to penalties. Wheelchairs and other mobility assistance devices for individuals with disabilities are exempt from this rule.

The intent to qualify for a specific division must be designated on the entry form and the qualifying fee PAID before the ride at a qualifying show. See www.swdressage.org for complete SWDC Rules Important Considerations for Qualifying

1. A horse/rider combination may qualify for the SWDC Championship by earning two qualifying scores in qualifying classes at SWDC recognized shows during the SWDC qualifying year. Qualifying classes are the highest test at each level, with the exception of Walk Trot which will use Intro Test B. Winning or placing in the class is not necessary as long as the score is earned. These scores must be earned at two different competitions from two different judges. 2. An $10.00 fee is added to the regular entry fee when entering a Qualifying Class at an SWDC recognized competition. $1.00 of the fee is to provide for the volunteers’ services at the Championships, $5.00 of this fee is allocated for prize money at the Championships, and the remaining $4.00 will be used to help pay for awards (any of the $4.00 not used for prizes will be added to the prize money). 3. One score may be earned at a show that is not approved by the SWDC as long as: a. The show is outside of Region 9 and recognized by USEF/USDF. b. The rider submits the score (a copy of the front of a signed dressage test) a fee of $25.00 to the SWDC Qualifying Secretary within two weeks of the end of the competition. If the score is not received within the two weeks, it will not apply. 4. A horse/rider combination having won the Championships at a certain level and division may not compete at that level and division or below in the Championships in subsequent years (except Grand Prix). However, the horse may compete at any level with a different rider. 5. Riders in the Walk/Trot level must not have competed in a recognized show above First Level. 6. Each rider must declare the division in which they are competing prior to each attempt at a qualifying ride at SWDC qualifying shows or for a score submitted under Rule 4 (Amateur, Open, or Junior/Young Rider) and must provide proof of eligibility in the case of Amateur and Junior/Young Rider. The intent to qualify for a particular division must be designated on the entry form. Adult Amateur, Junior/Young Riders and may also qualify for the Open division. Separate qualifying scores must be earned for each division. At the SWDC Championships they must enter each division separately and will ride in each division separately. If a competitor is found to have entered a division in which they are NOT ELIGIBLE they must default to show in the Open division if their qualifying, scores are sufficient to qualify in that division 7. In qualifying classes with more than one judge, scores among the judges of the ride will be averaged. For purposes of obtaining qualifying scores from two judges, so long as one judge in the judging combination is changed, it will constitute a different judge 8. Qualifying rides must be ridden in an unmodified standard 20m x 60m arena with the exception of walk trot which may be ridden in a 20m x 40m arena. 9 Competitors wishing to qualify for the Training or First Level Open Pony Championships may ride a qualifying test at Training or First Level in any division. These qualifying scores do not have to be earned in classes restricted to ponies but the competitor must declare prior to the start of the ride their intent to qualify for the SWDC Pony Championship class. Failure to do so will result in the default to the open division. Ponies must meet height requirements set by the USEF (DR135) in order to be eligible for this division at the Championships. 10. Junior Riders may qualify for the SWDC Open Third Level Freestyle Championship Class using qualifying scores obtained from Junior Rider Freestyle and Young Riders may qualify for the SWDC Open FEI Level Freestyle class using the Young Riders Freestyle. Scores must meet the division percentages and the rider must state the intention to qualify for those classes and pay qualifying fees PRIOR TO THE RIDE. 11. Competitors may check scores by checking www.swdressage.org web site or by emailing the SWDC Qualifying Secretary, at [email protected]. To. permit recording, scores will not be available until at least three weeks after the competition 37

USDF Statement on Animal Welfare The United States Dressage Federation, Inc. (USDF), a federation of over 100 independent organizations throughout the United States with a member- ship of nearly 30,000 members, supports the concept of ethical treatment of animals.

Dressage is a classical method of training horses, based upon the horse’s natural responses, as carried out in a gradual, planned program during which the horse’s athletic abilities are improved in a systematic manner. As a result, the horse becomes capable, comfortable, and responsive in partnership with the rider without the use of force. Dressage competition at various levels of achievement is the ultimate test of the training program to determine whether the desired harmony between horse and rider has been achieved.

The rules pertaining to dressage competition prohibit the use of artificial appliances, training aids, and drugs, which would force the horse to submit. Instead, the emphasis is upon training and a cooperative partnership with the rider. Major competitions are carefully monitored to assure that there is no unnecessary force or harshness displayed.

Unlike other horse sports in which horses enter training at a relatively immature state, dressage training is usually not seriously begun until the horse is three or four. The top levels of achievement require five or more years of progressive training and it is not unusual to see horses in international competition in their late teens. This, in itself, places a premium on good care and soundness throughout the horse’s life.

While supporting the concept of animal welfare in its broadest form, the United States Dressage Federation, Inc., also recognizes that it is unrealistic to ascribe human emotions and responses to the horse which in its wild state is a creature of flight, living a hard and precarious existence. Under domestication, the horse is assured of ample food, water, and shelter, as well as protection against infectious diseases and damaging parasites, thus leading a longer and healthier life with a high rate of survival.

As an educational organization, USDF has numerous programs, which teach people how to pursue the accepted, humane training methods. A program of certifying instructors also emphasizes protecting the horse’s welfare in pursuit of dressage training.
