MUSIC NOTESFrom The Director Welcome Back! Wow! I am so impressed with how hard everyone has been working. We are in our third week of school and every choir with the exception of the CSS (Central Steelmen Singers) staff choir has learned at least two songs. The music is in the air for “Oklahoma.” I was very pleased with the number of students that auditioned for the musical. It made the selection process very difficult. We are off to a fantastic start. All choirs are growing rapidly. As of Friday, August 28, 2015, the department is serving approximately 120 students in the four academic choirs/ensembles and the music appreciation class that meets during the school day and about an additional 70 singers in our four after school extracurricular and faculty choirs. The department is serving about 190 students and staff. This is indeed an increase from last year. We have much to do in the weeks ahead - namely the Open House Showcase (formerly the Pop concert), ISU Madrigal Workshop and of course, the musical “Oklahoma.”
From The Accompanist
I want to express my sincere gratitude for all the kind words and support I continue to receive from students and staff. I am really impressed with how hard everyone is working. I continue not only to be challenged but stretched as a musician. In other words, you are helping me become a better musician. Thank you. I am looking forward to growing with you this year.
