1. Being the goddess of wisdom, Athena often visited mortals to offer them her advice. At items, she was rather stern with these people. Arachne, for instance, was too vain for Athena, and she was seriously punished. Do you feel that Athena was justified in reprimanding Arachne? Or do you agree with the simple country girl that she is equal to, if not better than, the gods?

2. When Actaeon sees Artemis bathing in a pool, the goddess becomes very upset and changes the young hunter into a stag. His own hounds attack him, not knowing that the deer is really their beloved master. Do you think this punishment is just? Or was Artemis so severe in her punishment? Imagine that you are a judge. Which side would you support and why?

3. Hermes is a mischievous god! He tricks people and often does not tell them the whole truth. Nevertheless, he is not a mean or vicious god, like Ares. Do you think that tricks and jokes serve a useful purpose for people?

4. Uranus throws many of his children into Tartarus. Cronus swallows five of his children. These actions seem strange and terrible to us, but both gods had reasons for what they did. Do you agree with their actions or are their punishments suitable.
