Aberlady Primary School PTA Minutes Wednesday 20th August 2014, 8pm Held at Old Aberlady Inn ITEM 1. ATTENDEES: Joanna Ratcliffe (Secretary), Kirsty Usher(Treasurer), Jen MacPherson (Stand in Chair), Rianna Anderson, Patsy I’Anson (Head Teacher)

APOLOGIES: Cat Easson (Chair), Kathy Allan, Kat Selby, Sandra Bowdler, Carn Peaston (Principle Teacher)

2. OUTSTANDING ISSUES FROM LAST MINUTES  Kiltwalk – A Team Cheque Presentation night will go ahead on 22nd September. Was discussed if the PTA should send a representative. This is still to be decided. Finance team will liaise to get funds paid initially into PTA account and Sue will continue to liaise with Kiltwalk team. It was agreed that if a team is put together for next year that we do not do it for school funds.  Food Hygiene Course – Jo attended the council course and is now responsible for insuring the PTA follow correct hygiene proceedures in relation to food preparation.  Trim Trail – Mrs I’Anson informed us that the trail is due to be fitted on the 8th September and that there has been a delay on the resurfacing of the playground and car park. (School has since been advised that the delivery may take longer and could now be early October).

3. TREASURERS REPORT  The accounts still require to be externally audited. Kirsty has spoken to Steve Lissaman about doing this.  SPA cheque has been paid.  Sports day and School Uniform money has been paid into the account.  Kirsty has received the August Easyfundraising money and will cheque to see if Cash4Coins money has gone in.

4. RECENT EVENTS OVERVIEW  Transition Day – Jo gave an introductory talk on the PTA at the meeting and had new interest from a new P2 parent. Mrs I’Anson is going to ask Gillian for her contact details. Uniform sales during event made £39.  Sports Day – Sales of filled roll proved very successful but sales on strawberries and cream were not very good. Due to hot weather sales of Freeze Pops on the day made £33. Refreshments made £340 which is a great amount. Uniform sales made £38. Need to purchase more cans of pop and bottles of water next year as these sold well. Mrs I’Anson is looking to replace the faulty school urns.

5. FORTHCOMING EVENTS  Autumn Fair – Next meeting will take place on Wed 10th September, 8pm Old Aberlady Inn. Advertising and raffle requests are in hand. Jo needs to get a check from Kirsty to pay for the hall. Waiting on Hilary Wilkie to confirm amount to be paid.  Parent Consultations – Mon 6th & Wed 8th October. Jen is happy to run this again.  Fireworks – It is felt that Sandra Bowdler will need support from another committee member to run our involvement with the Fireworks Night.

6. ONGOING FUNDRAISING  Easyfundraising – Payment of £181.17 was made in May and payment of £100.47 was made in August. A reminder will need to go out to all after October half term to promote use for Christmas purchases.  Cash4Coins – Bucket weighed over 5kg so was emptied and sent. This made £81.75. An email needs to go out asking people for their summer holiday money.  MyNameTags – Forms went out in school bags before the end of term. All orders need to be placed via the website, Cat confirmed that these would all receive commission.  Rianna highlighted that you can buy MyNameTags using the Easyfundraising site so get a joint kick back! 7. SCHOOL FEEDBACK – Mrs I’Anson  A thank you for recent funds received and the Trim Trail is due to be installed!  Future Donations – The school is looking to refresh computer hardware with Netbooks and Charging Racks by October Half term. The Council will provide 16 Netbooks and if the school is happy with these they would look to the PTA to fund a further 16. They may also look at other hardware options.  3rd September Parents Evening – The school are holding an evening encompassing P1 Curriculum information, Start of Year Social, Educational Psychologist Talk and Parent Council AGM. The PTA has offered to provide refreshments on this evening and mingle with parents to promote PTA work.  The school will hold a Beetle Drive again at the beginning of next year.

8. COMMUNICATION  Need to step up communication for new committee members. Look to heavily promote AGM and encourage people at school parents evening.

9. ANY OTHER BUSINESS  Sandra Lothian has stepped down from the committee and Rianna Anderson will be stepping down at the next AGM.  Micro Scooters – Cat has looked at doing Scooters for Schools. People can purchase scooters using a URN code 5552621 and 10% of purchase will go to the school. It was agreed that we should proceed with this.

10. DATE OF NEXT MEETING  Autumn Fair Planner 10th September, 8pm, Old Aberlady Inn  PTA Committee meeting Wednesday 22nd October, 10am, 3 Mair End  PTA AGM – Wednesday 25th November, School Staff Room.
