Our first Student of the Month Awards highlighted this past week. Congratulations to all students who earned recognition by showcasing the pillar of "responsibility" in our first month of school. (Picture below.) I was happy to see so many teachers present to support the students as well, not to mention our counselors, administrators, specialist and a capacity crowd of parents!

Tuesday's situation at Hoover High School reminded us of the importance of being prepared for anything. Student safety is always our utmost priority, and by all accounts the precautionary evacuation at Hoover after a phoned in threat, went smoothly as their staff collaborated with District personnel and the city of Glendale's police and fire departments to ensure all students were cared for. Although Toll was on our usual regular schedule, we used the opportunity to practice our communication channels with one another and with households. While I was able to send an e-mail and all-call home, I would encourage all families to follow me on the Remind App. See the school web page for more information. This app allows me to text all followers in the event of an emergency.

I am also participating in training at the Glendale Fire Bureau on CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) certification. This 20-hour training will help me as a site leader, and as a parent who co-heads a household, to be more prepared in the event of a natural disaster. I remind all families to keep emergency contact information current with your children's schools. Additionally, keep an earthquake kit at home, at work and in the car to protect your household in the event of a true emergency.

This week at Toll includes our first School Site Council Meeting on Monday and Thursday is the Glendale Council PTA Luncheon. We are also starting our second core competition, a donation drive for the Toll Annual Fund. There will be rewards given to all cores that reach 100% participation, regardless of the size of each family's contribution. More details will be up on the website this week.

Have a great week... Go Titans!
