"Bill" Riser 28 29 30 HISTORY OF LEGISLATIVE ACTIONS 31 32 Date Body Action Description with journal page number 33 2/11/2003 House Introduced, adopted, sent to Senate HJ-3 34 2/12/2003 Senate Introduced, adopted, returned with concurrence SJ-9 35 36 37 VERSIONS OF THIS BILL 38 39 2/11/2003 40 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 10 11 EXTENDING THE SINCEREST GRATITUDE OF THE SOUTH 12 CAROLINA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES TO OUR 13 FORMER COLLEAGUE, JOHN W. “BILL” RISER, FOR HIS 14 DECADE OF DEDICATED SERVICE TO HOUSE DISTRICT 15 NO. 69 IN LEXINGTON COUNTY AND THE STATE OF 16 SOUTH CAROLINA, AND WISHING FOR HIM CONTINUED 17 OPPORTUNITIES TO WORK WITH AND SERVE THE 18 PEOPLE HE LOVES SO WELL. 19 20 Whereas, John W. “Bill” Riser served in the South Carolina House 21 of Representatives for ten years representing House District No. 69 22 in Lexington County; and 23 24 Whereas, his election to that position followed an illustrious and 25 successful career with the Clemson University Extension Agency; 26 and 27 28 Whereas, he made use of his training in agriculture, his love of 29 nature, and his natural geniality to become a media name instantly 30 associated with agriculture and gardening, both as a columnist for 31 THE STATE and as host of WIS-TV’s “Early Riser Show”; and 32 33 Whereas, the Clemson University graduate and basketball great 34 has made numerous contributions to his community and his 35 church, being active in the Jaycees and Lions Clubs, and serving as 36 Deacon of the Saluda Baptist Church; and 37 38 Whereas, his active and happy life always includes his loving wife, 39 the former Peggy Ann Gwinn, and their three children, Deborah 40 Ann, Karen Leah, and John William, Jr.; and 41

1 [3544] 1 1 Whereas, his tenure in the House most recently included his 2 effective membership on the critical Ways and Means Committee 3 and on the budget subcommittee for Higher Education, TECH, and 4 Cultural and his vital chairmanship of the legislative Personnel and 5 Benefits Subcommittee. He was also a member of the Agriculture, 6 Natural Resources and Environmental Affairs Committee for four 7 years; and 8 9 Whereas, Bill Riser’s departure from the floor of the House of 10 Representatives can in no way herald his retirement from public 11 service. This perpetual public servant will simply find another 12 way to contribute to the State he loves. Now, therefore, 13 14 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate 15 concurring: 16 17 That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives 18 hereby extend sincerest gratitude to our former colleague, John W. 19 “Bill” Riser, for his decade of dedicated service to House District 20 No. 69 in Lexington County and the State of South Carolina, and 21 wish for him continued opportunities to work with and serve the 22 people he loves so well. 23 24 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to 25 John W. “Bill” Riser. 26 ----XX---- 27
