Center for Independent Living of Northeastern Minnesota, Inc. Mission: To assist individuals with disabilities to live independently, pursue meaningful goals, and have the same opportunities and choices as all persons. Homemaker Training Homemaker services include meal preparation, routine household care, shopping and errands, assisting with daily activities, arranging transportation, providing emotional support and social stimulation, and monitoring safety and well being. Homemakers can only provide services as indicated in the individual service plan. In accordance with our philosophy and mission CILNM provides consumers with as much choice as possible. The homemaker providing services receives a minimum of 24 hours of training during the first year, and six hours training annually thereafter. Training includes the areas of homemaking skills, the aging process, nutrition, home management, and disability related training. Most training takes place in the consumer's home while the homemaker is working and is jointly provided by the consumer and CILNM staff. Homemaker Name:______

The initial 18 hours must be completed during the first month. The Homemaker is responsible to cover a related topic once every two months for one hour thereafter. This can be done via the Internet, training manuals, videos and other related topics either provided by CILNM, your local library, or other learning related facility.

Center for Independent Living of Northeastern Minnesota, Inc. CILNM staff and the consumer may require specific training as they deem appropriate and will either provide this specific training or provide training materials.
