2Nd German CDISC User Group Meeting

Meeting Summary 2nd German CDISC User Group Meeting Kopenhagen, 22 April 2008

Meeting place and time were very well perceived by the participants, we will now have two one day meetings per year as well as a coming-together at the yearly European CDISC Interchanges

There were much more participants that we have thought. While having the registration from 25 people, more than 70 people were then actually joining the User Group Meeting

The introduction was made by Ann-Sofie Bergstroem, she was very happy to see how and to which extend the European CDISC User Network went live just within one year and she very much appreciated the strong participation for this meeting

In his introduction, Daniel Rehn presented the results of the survey performed during the first German CDISC User Group Meeting. Among the members, there are more than 20 people actively working in CDISC teams and many of them have already gained a certain experience by regularly using the CDISC models in their daily work. They are also ready to share their expertise with others, as at the CDISC European Interchange, there were 7 presentations from German CDISC User Group members taking place.

As a guest speaker, Joel Hoffman was talking about how ADaM datasets are generated from SDTM and discussed some aspects on how this could be automated in the future, e.g. by the use of executable expressions within define.xml. This talk was heald in a question and answer mode and generated lively discussions. The presentations of the two speakers can be found in the German CDISC User Group Portal: http://cdiscportal.digitalinfuzion.com/Global%20User%20Networks/Europe/German %20Language/Meetings/Forms/AllItems.aspx?RootFolder=%2fGlobal%20User %20Networks%2fEurope%2fGerman%20Language%2fMeetings%2fGerman%20CDISC %20UG%20Meeting%5f02%5f20080422&FolderCTID=&View=%7b6AA2A3EE %2d1B84%2d46EB%2d9B94%2d4814D8D422DB%7d

In his closing, Daniel Rehn touched based on the different possibilities how to learn more about CDISC, e.g. by participating at the various one day workshops held across Europe, by using the newly available vLearning module or by surfing through the various CDISC User Network Portals available soon from within the CDISC website.

Going forward with the German CDISC User Group, the survey showed that the members are mostly interested in SDTM, ODM, define.xml and ADaM and we will establish subsequent workstreams at the next User Group Meeting which will cover these topics. The next German CDISC User Group Meeting will take place in Basel (Roche) on September 2, 2008 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. Of course, any new members are welcome!

Daniel Rehn
