This one day course will provide a positive learning environment in which to consider Autogenic Drainage (AD) .The learning experience, will explore the teaching and practice of the technique and how to combine with other adjuncts. There will be opportunity to become familiar with both the theory and practical application of the technique. At present no one Airway Clearance Technique (ACT) has been proven to be more effective than any other. This course aims to raise awareness of the application of AD as a tool to be considered and practiced by physiotherapists with their patients, whose lives are affected by chronic lung disease.

OBJECTIVES

At the conclusion of this course participants will be able to identify:-

 Autogenic Drainage, theory and evidence base  The basic teaching principles for AD when treating those with lung disease.  How AD may be combined with other Airway Clearance Techniques  an opportunity to practice AD  an opportunity to discuss concerns relating to AD in an ‘open forum’.

Lynne Gumery O'Grady: Speaker biography

Lynne O'Grady has worked with CF adults for 30 years, 27 years in clinical practice at the West Midlands Adult Regional CF centre, UK and teaching as a Honorary Clinical Lecturer, University of Birmingham, UK. She is a founder member of the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Cystic Fibrosis, UK and was awarded Fellowship of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy in November 2009, for her work improving the care of people with CF, particularly via the introduction and teaching of novel ACT. She now lives mainly in New York, US maintaining strong links with CF through her teaching of ACT, in both the UK and US. Registration Form
