Review Minutes The minutes from the 2015 Executive Committee Meeting were reviewed. No changes requested. Motion for approve? Passed

Participation: Registration at 100, this is the highest registration in over a decade with most years totaling 34-55 participants. Discussion regarding marketing conference through electronic resources (website, email, etc.) and hand-outs at other conferences (RMCC, Timely Topics, Preemie Summit) as opposed to mailing save-the-dates and brochures. No conference notices were mailed this year and there is record attendance. The group agreed to continue to save money on postage and use the above means to market the conference.

Treasurer’s Report Olivia Jagelski, Secretary/Treasurer Prior to the official treasurer’s report, group was informed that the MPA did not in fact have the “Tax Exempt” status through the IRS (just a tax exempt designation within First Interstate Bank. Discussion regarding need to pay back taxes, etc. for not filing a 990-PF in previous years. Group notified that this is not necessary unless net income totals more than $50,000 so does not apply to the MPA. Request from Treasurer to hire a CPA annually to complete the 990-PF. Motion for approve? Passed

The attached treasurer’s report was presented to the Executive Board: *The treasurer’s report will also be presented at the business meeting by Treasurer.

Question regarding what to do with the funds in savings account. The group discussed exploring investment options such as an IRA or SCD. Treasurer will follow-up with First Interstate Bank regarding options. Discussed possibility of having the Montana Perinatal Collaborative merge and serve as the “active arm” for the Montana Perinatal Association. Funds could be used to become involved in lobbying/advocacy and working with state-wide issues (i.e. drug abuse). Lobbying would involve sponsoring bills through the Montana Hospital Association. No decisions made. Suggestion to give grants to critical access hospitals for products, education opportunities (Stable, NRP, ACLS OB). Discussion regarding how difficult to regulate. No decisions made.

Group agreed that Ashild may continue if desired.

Future conference dates/Host  April 27-29, 2017 Kalispell Regional Medical Center  April 26-28, 2018 St. Vincent’s Healthcare  May 2-4, 2019 Benefis Health System  April 30-May 2, 2020 Billings Clinic Discussion regarding Missoula or other taking RMCC 2017 so Kalispell does not host 3 statewide conferences. Membership An updated email list has been compiled. Last years’ suggestion to compile a list of contacts from all hospitals in the state that deliver babies that we can then funnel information- discussion.

Scholarships 4 scholarships were offered in order to increase attendance by smaller community hospitals. Scholarship information was posted on the website last fall, included in the brochure, and emailed out to previous attendees. There were 18 applicants, 4 were chosen based on short written statement, preference given to healthcare providers at small rural hospitals. Proposal made to increase number of scholarships from 4 to 5. Motion to approve? Passed Website issues  List of providers throughout the state has been updated.  Include Save the Dates and links to other organizations so that we are able to connect with other groups with similar goals. March of Dimes Rocky Mountain Childbirth Conference Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies Montana Healthcare Foundation Add Montana Pediatrics Society to website

Annual Meeting and Conference The 2017 annual conference is scheduled to be held at Chico Hot Springs April 27-29, 2017. 2017 Host Kalispell Regional Medical Center Future dates to be announced at 2016 Business Meeting Continue incorporating report from Rocky Mountain Perinatal Collaborative as one of the presented topics.

New Business: Discussion about using the MPA website to share policies with critical access hospitals throughout the state (i.e. HIE algorithm). Instead of labeling the policies with the particular hospital’s name that “owns” the policy, it would be marked with MPA logo. No decisions made.

Discussion regarding adding a pediatric component to the MPA conference. This would require the ability to have break-out sessions or 2 tracks. Chico is not able to split the room. Decided that the MPA conference is not the best venue for a pediatrics component but is worth discussing with the RMCC committee and Timely Topics Committee.

Other Question posed about offering CME Credits again. Historically there has not been a lot of interest in the credits and they are expensive. Motion to deny CME credits? Passed, will reconsider in future years if there are requests.
