PERSON SPECIFICATION
JOB TITLE: Manager ATS GRADE RANGE: MATS
DEPARTMENT: BAATL
REPORTS TO: Head of ANS
HOW TO BE ASSESSED KNOWLEDGE 1. Comprehensive knowledge of Manual of Air A / I Traffic Control Part 1 procedures (CAP493).
2. Comprehensive knowledge of Birmingham A / I MATS Part 2 procedures.
3. Comprehensive knowledge of ATS policies A / I and procedures contained within relevant Civil Aviation Publications.
4. Knowledge of safety, quality and security A / I management systems.
5. Understanding of airport operations. A / I
SKILLS/ABILITIES 1. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally A / I and in writing.
2. Ability to understand and follow oral and / or A / I written policies, procedures and instructions.
3. Computer literate. A / I
4. Ability to work at speed and under pressure A / I with accuracy.
5. Able to manage and lead a team of ATCOs A / I and ATCAs.
6. Well-developed inter-personal skills to A / I communicate verbally and/or in writing with a range of internal and external contacts in a professional manner.
7. Initiative and motivation to deliver a safe and A / I effective service to BAATLs customers.
EXPERIENCE 1. UK-licensed ATCO with significant Air Traffic A / I / HR Control experience in the following ratings;

Aerodrome Control (ADI) Approach Control Surveillance (APS)
2. Hold (or have held) the following ATCO A / I / HR licence endorsements: On The Job Training Instructor (OJTi) Examiner (EXAM)
3. ATS Management Experience in; A / I Incident Investigation Risk Assessment Auditing A / I 4. Experience of preparing and presenting accurate and reliable reports, including findings and recommendations. A / I 5. Track record of delivering complex projects to targets and timescales. A / I 6. Experience of managing ATS training and competence schemes in a complex environment. EDUCATIONAL 1. Good education standard with a minimum of A / I QUALIFICATIONS GCSE English and mathematics or equivalent. Further/higher educational qualifications desirable. OTHER 1. Previous 5 year checkable history (e.g. work, H / R ATTRIBUTES study, unemployment, home worker).

3. An ability to work under pressure to meet A / I deadlines.
