College of Arts and Sciences Educators Club

About the Educators Club

The Kaplan University Educators Club was formed September 2008. The mission of Educators Club is to work together as a team and to respect the opinions and views of others. We will show our compassion for others and create, support, and maintain powerful engaged learning in the arts and sciences. As a team we will work together to stay in touch, keeping the communication lines open, offering support and help to all members. As a team, we will identify, create a plan of action, and implement services and activities that benefit all Kaplan University students and faculty. We will provide a forum for delivering feedback to the University. We also celebrate the unique talents and identify the specific needs of members, fellow nontraditional students, and faculty. As a team, we believe education, perseverance, and dedication are the keys to lifelong success.

Membership Requirements  Open to all undergraduate early childhood and educational paraprofessional students in the College of Arts and Sciences

About the African American Student Union (KAUSE)

The Kaplan University African American Student Union (KAUSE) chapter was formed in 2009. The purpose of this clubs shall be to provide a structure through which, mentoring, social connections, professional networking, and career counseling programs can be channeled in the interest of the African American student: and to improve the general level of understanding within the university community about the heritage of minority students.

Membership Requirements

 Students must be enrolled in a communication degree program  After 6 months of being a member the students who join are expected to hold a 2.8 CGPA or better

About the Lambda Pi Eta Honor Society (LPE)

The Chi Omicron Chapter of Lambda Pi Eta at Kaplan University was formed in the summer of 2008. There are more than 400 active chapters at colleges and universities worldwide. The name Lambda Pi Eta is taken from Aristotle’s book, Rhetoric. Each Greek letter represents the three ingredients of persuasion: logic, pathos, and ethics.

Membership Requirements

 Students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above

 Students must be a communications major

 Students must complete a minimum of 90 credits in the communications program at Kaplan University (not including transfer credits)

One-time membership fee: $50

About the National Communication Association (NCA)

The Kaplan University National Communication Association (NCA) chapter was formed in 2008. NCA is a scholarly society that works to enhance the research, teaching, and service produced by its members on topics of both intellectual and social significance.

About the OWLS Club

The Kaplan University OWLS Club was formed in 2007. Alpha Phi Sigma Honor Society (APS)

About the Alpha Phi Sigma Honor Society (APS) The Kaplan University Theta Epsilon Chapter of the Alpha Phi Sigma, Criminal Justice Honor Society was re-established in 2009. The Mission of Alpha Phi Sigma is to promote analytical thinking, rigorous scholarship, and lifelong learning; to keep abreast of the advances in scientific research; to elevate the ethical standards of the criminal justice professions; and to sustain in the public mind the benefit and necessity of education and professional training.

Membership Requirements

 Membership is open to all undergraduate and graduate criminal justice majors

 Membership is by invitation only

 Invitations are sent out twice a year to eligible students

Undergraduate Students

 Students must have completed at least four courses within the program

 Students must possess a cumulative GPA of 3.2

Graduate Students

 Students must have completed at least four courses within the program

 Studetns must possess a cumulative GPA of 3.4

American Medical Technologist Society (AMT)

About the American Medical Technologist Society (AMT)

The Kaplan University chapter of the American Medical Technologist Society (AMT) was formed in 2008. The mission of AMT is to “manage, promote, expand upon and continuously improve [AMT’s] certification programs for allied health professionals who work in a variety of disciplines and settings, to administer certification examinations in accordance with the highest standards of accreditation, and to provide continuing education, information, advocacy services and other benefits to our AMT members.”

Membership Requirements

Membership is by invitation only and is open to Associate of Applied Science in Medical Assisting and Associate of Applied Science in Medical Office Management students.

 Membership is by invitation only  Students must have a 2.0 GPA or above  Students must attend a new member meeting  Students must submit an application

About the Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity (AHDI) The Kaplan University chapter of the Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity (ADHI) was formed in 2008. The mission of AHDI is to promote the integrity of healthcare documentation through development of an educated, prepared workforce in clinical documentation.
