Job Summary

This role is accountable for providing development support within the designated region to attract, develop, involve and enthuse a wide range of passionate and committed fundraising volunteers according to an agreed programme of roles to increase the capacity and income of the Regional Fundraising Team. At the heart of our volunteer network is the development and management of an effective income generating volunteer fundraising group network in line with the Fundraising Strategic Plan. ______

Main Duties

1. In consultation with Fundraising Managers, plan, organise and manage an agreed schedule for the recruitment of fundraising groups and other volunteers to deliver growth in income in line with regional targets.

2. Train, coach and mentor staff in the region on the recruitment and management of fundraising groups and volunteers in line with agreed training programmes. Enhance skills and transfer knowledge to build capability and understanding locally in order that teams become more self-reliant.

3. Work with Fundraising Volunteer Programme Managers to be the guardian of Regional Fundraising’s volunteer programmes within the designated region, ensuring that new groups are formed and volunteers managed in line with the charity’s goals.

4. Monitor performance of groups and volunteers in the region and provide support and motivation to help staff direct volunteer activity in line with operational plans.

5. Give on-going advice and practical support to Community Fundraisers to understand and actively involve their communities, harnessing supporters and building relationships to form and retain fundraising groups and volunteers.

6. Respond to requests for information, advice and hands-on support to meet the needs of your region. Work closely with other Fundraising Volunteer Development Managers and the Fundraising Volunteering Team to evaluate activity, integrate and share advice to enhance our volunteering, develop innovation and identify and share best practice.

7. Be the expert in the region for staff and volunteers on specific areas of fundraising group and volunteer management and development. 8. To attend regular national Fundraising Volunteer Development Meetings to discuss areas of common interest and contribute to the development of fundraising volunteer programmes, training and communications.

9. Support the induction and training of fundraising groups and volunteers, maintaining contact with lead role holders to maximise potential, pre-empt issues and encourage self-reliance.

10. Troubleshoot issues with fundraising groups and volunteers, managing change and performance in consultation with the Fundraising Manager and Head of Regional Fundraising.

11. Manage and deliver a series of Fundraising Group network meetings and other volunteer stewardship activities as appropriate within the designated region.

12. Contribute to the region’s annual budget setting process and operational plan, identifying volunteer resource required to deliver objectives.

13. Promote Marie Curie as a volunteer-involving organisation, supporting opportunities for individuals and groups to become involved. Support opportunities to increase brand awareness amongst volunteers and identify opportunities to extend our reach into new areas.

14. Liaise and develop relationships with regional members of other fundraising departments to maximise opportunities for cross-team working.

15. Ensure effective information dissemination on an on-going basis and ensure compliance with Marie Curie Cancer Care volunteer procedures and policies. Contribute and draw on internal and external intelligence to meet regional volunteering needs.
