PART 2 - PRODUCTS

MANUFACTURER'S

Available Manufacturers: Subject to compliance with requirements, vertical reciprocating conveyors shall be Langley Mfg. Division, Model ______; Southworth Products Corp., Model ______; or equal.

MANUFACTURED UNITS

The Contractor shall provide the manufacturers standard preengineered vertical reciprocating conveyor which shall comply with or fulfill the requirements in these special provisions.

Vertical Reciprocating Conveyor:

Vertical reciprocating conveyor shall be rated for ______pounds lifting capacity at a minimum speed of ____ feet per minute, with a height of travel of ____ feet. The lower frame shall be designed for bolting directly to the floor slab and not require a pit. The carrier platform shall be ____" x ____", cantilever type, diamond plate or other non-skid surface, with removable pipe on the two sides adjacent to the mast and snap chain on side opposite the mast; guide rollers with sealed bearings.

The conveyor shall be electric/hydraulic drive with single acting hydraulic cylinder, direct coupled positive displacement pump and motor, high capacity reservoir with filter/breather and suction filter, manual bypass valve high pressure piping, valves and attenuators. Cylinder shall have replaceable seals, chromed rods and shall be rebuildable without removing cylinder.

Conveyor control shall include two 3-button, 24-volt pushbutton control stations, electromechanical interlock control on enclosure gates and limit switches. Pushbutton control buttons shall include "Up," "Down," and "Emergency Stop."

ACCESSORIES

Safety Screens: Safety screens shall be expanded metal enclosures with electromechanical interlocked gates at each level conforming to ANSI B20.1 and OSHA 1910.212. Warning Signs: Warning signs shall be sheet steel, not less than 0.030 inch thick (22-gage), with black letters on a white background and a baked enamel coating. Warning sign shall have "NO RIDERS' in 4-inch letters.

PART 3 - EXECUTION

INSTALLATION

Installation shall conform to the manufacturer's recommendations and the requirements of ANSI B20.1 and OSHA 1910.212.

Conveyor shall be securely attached to the concrete floor slab and the landing using powder driven stud type expansion anchors.

Warning signs shall be mounted 5 feet above floor level.

FIELD QUALITY CONTROL

Testing:

Operational testing of the vertical reciprocating conveyor shall be conducted in the presence of the Engineer and shall consist of, but not limited to a minimum of five timed lifts of the conveyor at the rated load. For each test lift, the speed of the lift shall be calculated and shall be not less than the manufacturer's rated speed. Conveyor drive motor current, measured during each test, shall not exceed the motor nameplate current rating.

Additional tests shall be performed to demonstrate the proper operation of safety features including, interlocks, stops, brakes, limit switches and other features as directed by the Engineer.

Manufacturer's Field Service: All equipment shall be assembled, installed and tested in the presence of the conveyor manufacturer's representative.
