NOTICE OF REGULAR MEETING

February 27, 2017

TO MEMBERS OF THE SENATE COUNCIL AND MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC

A regular meeting of the Associated Student Government of MiraCosta College’s Senate Council will be held at the Community Learning Center, Community Room.

Friday, March 3, 2017

The Senate Council begins at 10:00 AM.

II. Public Comment: Members of the audience may address any item listed on the agenda. A time limit of two minutes per person and ten minutes per topic will be strictly enforced by a two-thirds majority vote. Please note that the members cannot discuss or take action on your item at this time. III. Approval of the Minutes: February 24, 2017 IV. Approval of the Agenda*: March 3, 2017 V. Swear-Ins: Individuals appointed by the Student Senate or Executive Council shall be sworn into office by the ASG President and ASG Advisor, per Article XVI, Section A. VI. Discussion and Possible Action Items: Each member will be allowed to speak on each item a maximum of three times during deliberation unless otherwise waived by the chair. In the interest of time, please try not to repeat what has already been said.

A. Election Commission: Members will discuss and possibly appoint the third member for the 2017 Election Commission. (Reyes, 15 mins.)

B. Spending Bills: Members will discuss and possibly approve the following recommended spending bills. (Moreno, 10 mins.)

a) SB-FY17-33 GEAR UP for College 2017: In the amount of $1,200.00 (5 mins.)

b) SB-FY17-34 Election Commission Promotion: In the amount of $1,600.00 (5 mins.)

C. Support for Bill AB393: Members will discuss and possibly support the Bill AB393 to freeze tuition for CSU and CCC. (Tam 10 mins.)

D. Resolution Regarding to the Vice President of Programming of Oceanside: Members will receive information regarding action steps for probation (Medina, 10 mins.)

E. AB540 Brochure: Members will discuss and possibly approve an AB540 brochure (Davis, 10 mins.)

-3- F. ASG Goals: Members will receive a report from individuals who are leading ASG goals. (Reyes, 15 mins.)

VII. ICC Club Recognition: ASG will review and possibly approve the recommendation of ICC for recognizing club petitions. (Castaño, 5 mins.) VIII. ASG Attendance & Office Hours: Members of the Senate will be informed about ASG office hours for fall semester. (Medina, 15 mins.)

IX. Committee and ASG Reports: Members will give an update on District and ASG Committees. (15 mins.)

X. Student Correspondence: This time is reserved for members to review all correspondence to and from the ASG. (10 mins.)

XI. Future Agenda Items: This time is reserved for any Senate members to make suggestions for future agenda items. Please reference link: http://miracosta.edu/governance/asg/agendarequests.html

XII. Communication from the Floor: This time is reserved for any member to make announcements or share correspondence on items not on the agenda or bring forward information for general discussion so long as it pertains to ASG business. This time is also allotted to members wishing to give a report. A time limit of three (3) minutes per speaker shall be observed. No action will be taken and the total time limit for this item shall not be extended. Please contact the ASG President for any items that need to be placed on a future agenda. (Brown Act §54954.2) (15 mins.)

XIII. Adjournment

ASG Standing Rules:

A.1. The Senate will reduce, reuse, and recycle paper properly.

A.2. Members will respond to emails that state ‘action required’ and confirm receipt/ understanding of message within two business days.

A.3. Members will wear their ASG shirt at all student senate meetings.

A.4. Members will wear their ASG nametags at all ASG events.

A.5. Members will exercise respect and civility inside and outside of student senate meetings, (you represent ASG at all times).

A.6. Members will limit use of electronic devices in ASG meetings to the business of ASG.
