MEETING CALLED TO ORDER BY PRESIDENT President Kottke called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. Roll was taken and is recorded above.

DISCUSSION/ACTION ON MINUTES Mr. Kraft, seconded by Mr. Panzer, moved to approve the minutes of the March 12, 2012 school board meeting. Motion carried: 7 ayes, 0 noes, 0 absent.

PRESENTATION OF OAKFIELD SCHOOL DISTRICT ENERGY ASSESSMENT Jeff McCarthy from Focus on Energy, explained to the Board the energy assessment that was done last summer throughout the district. He shared the different areas that we could possibly save energy and money along with a timeline for upgrades on some of our equipment. Board discussion followed.

CIA (CURRICULUM, INSTRUCTION, ASSESSMENT) PRESENTATION Dan Heiser, Math Teacher and Math Team Coach at the Jr/Sr High School, shared information about our math team. This is one of our extracurricular activities offered at the Jr/Sr High School. The Math Team competes in about six meets per year. We are the only one from the Trailway Conference that attends more than one math meet per year. Our school will average about 24 students each year.

DISCUSSION OF LEGISLATIVE ISSUES Principal Heinzelman shared on some of the legislative highlights discussed at this time including, reauthorization of ESEA, Jessica King is opposed to Lead to Read Bill on how it was being done, the vocational diploma passed, governors task force on person financial literacy, work on teacher licensure flexibility and alternative licensure, project grill was touted as a model by Senator King, Wisconsin leads nation in high school graduation rate, state’s child poverty increases again nationwide, Wisconsin’s Paul Ryan unveils house GOP blueprint for federal spending, and that the Legislative Session has ended until January, 2013.

APPOINT BOARD OF CANVASS FOR THE SPRING ELECTION Clerk, Paul Dercks, appointed Mary Guth and Jackie Hungerford to the Board of Canvassers for the April 3, 2012 election.

FIRST READING OF BOARD POLICY #186 OPERATING PROCEDURES President Kottke read the first reading of Board Policy #186 – Operating Procedures. Discussion followed.

DISCUSSION/ACTION ON PROPOSED LEGAL ACTION TAKEN ON BEHALF OF THE EVA B. SMITH SCHOLARSHIP President Kottke, seconded by Mrs. Patterson, moved to drop the legal action taken on behalf of the Eva B. Smith Scholarship Fund. Motion carried: 6 ayes, 1 noes, 0 absent.

APPOINT A COMMITTEE TO SELECT EVA B. SMITH SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS President Kottke appointed Bob Panzer and Angie Patterson as the school board representatives on the Eva B. Smith Scholarship committee for the 2012 scholarship awards. UPDATE ON CO-CURRICULAR HANDBOOK Principal Heinzelman shared with the Board the feedback that he received after meeting with the coaches regarding the co-curricular handbook. Board discussion followed.

DISCUSSION/ACTION ON MEETING TIMES Mr. Panzer, seconded by Mrs. Patterson, moved to change the school board meeting start time back to 5:30 p.m. Motion carried: 6 ayes, 1 noes, 0 absent.

DISCUSSION/ACTION ON TECHNOLOGY PLAN – PHASE TWO Mr. Panzer, seconded by Mr. Dercks, moved to approve the 90 IPads and three IPad carts. Motion carried: 7 ayes, 0 noes, 0 absent.

CESA 6 REPORT Mrs. Patterson reported on her attendance at the CESA 6 meeting.

STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE REPORT No report available.

ADMINISTRATIVE REPORTS Administrator/Elementary Principal Yoder shared information discussed at the elementary early dismissal meeting. Some areas discussed were academic and behavioral interventions, school rules, recess times with each grade level, and the theme for next year. She also attended the Village of Oakfield meeting and was a guest speaker at the High School Athletic Banquet. Principal Heinzelman reported on events he attended including, eighth grade career fair, athletic banquet, coaches and spring sport parent meeting, and the Eagle Scout ceremony.
