Prizes: 1st £60, 2nd £30, 3rd £15. Trophy for the winner. Best Leeds player also wins the title of Leeds Junior Champiuon. Intermediate Section Open to players with an ECF/YCA grade below 110 Trophies for the top 3 and best girl. Age group prizes will be awarded depending on entry. Minor Section Open to any player with no grade or below 40 (some tournament experience would be required and players with a grade over 40 may be eligible if the grade is based on a small number of games). Trophies for the top 3. Best girl medal. Medals in each age group. Novice Section (age limit U11 years of age on 1st September 2017) Open to any player with limited experience or first tournament. Trophy for the top three and best girl, with age group medals. Please note: Where there is a small entry in a section it may be merged with another section, although prizes will be applicable for the section you entered (in the event of a small Major entry cash prizes will be available to Intermediate players in a merged section). No player can win more than one trophy or medal. If trophies are won in any section – the age medal will be awarded to the next highest scoring junior. Tie break system (for trophies only) is games played between players tied, otherwise a short play-off will be held. Cash prizes will be shared if points are equal. Extra prizes may be awarded depending on size of entry on all sections. The organisers reserve the right to change the prize structure to suit the entries received. Grades used will be those published in August 2016. This is part of the Yorkshire Junior Grand Prix Other Grand Prix events: Sheffield Junior Congress (March 17th) Hull Junior Congress (April 24th) and York Junior Congress (date to be announced) (You do not have to enter these events to be part of the Leeds Junior Congress). Grand prix prizes will be in each section and will be announced later. Entry fees: £10 in all sections. Late entry fee if received after Tuesday 23rd January is £15. (Refreshments may be on sale, but you can bring a packed lunch). Entries received without payment eg by e-mail will be accepted but will have an extra £2 charge on the day. Refunds given for withdrawal before Monday 22nd January. We recommend you do not enter through a third party as this can lead to confusion. Send your entry directly to the organisers or enter online. The organisers are only responsible for juniors in the playing hall. We strongly recommend juniors are supervised when they are not playing. It is a condition of entry that photographs may be taken and used for publicity. If you do not wish photographs of your child to be used you must tell us on the day. Photos may appear on the YJCA, Leeds Junior Chess and ECF websites. Parents will not be allowed in the playing hall during play. ENTRY FORM OVERLEAF. Program for all events: Arrive 9.45am.
